For the past week, Kris has become a permanent presence amidst Tao's group of friends. Despite the initial thought that the young Chinese would be spending most of his time alone in peace with Kris, it ends up with him internally hyperventilating whenever they are all gathered together along with Luhan. They have become inseparable though because Tao finds excuses to not join his friends when Kris isn't around and his boyfriend thinks it's rather cute that Tao is a little clingy (even if he's perfectly aware why).
It's Thursday night and Tao is busy finishing a research paper due on Monday when he notices Jonghyun look a little preoccupied and keeps looking at him. Tao saves his work and spins around to face his roommate, "Hyung, something wrong?"
"T-Tao... Uhh..." Jonghyun scratches the back of his neck, "I need to tell you something."
"Obviously." Tao smiles at the older, "What is it?"
"M-Minho and I are moving together."
"That's great!! What's the problem?"
"I can't leave you alone. The rent..."
"Oh. Right... D-dont worry! I'll look for a part-time job!"
Jonghyun scratches the back of his neck, "I don't want to impose, but other than that I'm more worried about letting you live alone here."
"I can look for a new roommate too." Tao smiles genuinely, "When do you leave?"
"Saturday. Minho and I already found a place to move in." Jonghyun sighs and looks at Tao, "I feel so bad. I mean, I was the one who convinced your parents to let you move here."
"Don't worry about mama and papa! I'm sure they'll understand. You're like a son to them!"
"Yeah. A prodigal son." Jonghyun scratches the back of his neck, "I haven't seen them since graduating high school in China and I wasn't even able to come to grandpa's funeral..."
"They understand, hyung." Tao jumps from his seat and sits next to Jonghyun, "I'll help you pack tomorrow after wushu practice, okay?"
Jonghyun hugs Tao, "Let's have a little get together too. You can invite Kris."
Tao nods, "Sure. I'll tell him tomorrow." The younger ruffles his roommate's hair, "Now go to bed." Jonghyun smiles and Tao returns to his desk.

"I can't believe you're gonna move in together." Kris tells Minho and Jonghyun while he helps them pack the older's stuff that Friday night. "How can you leave my baby alone?!"
"Ge~!!!" Tao throws a pillow at Kris and the other couple just laughs. Minho clears his throat, "Jonghyun is gonna graduate this year and I still have a year until I do. Instead of living together after he graduates, why not start living now?"
"We were planning this for a long time already. I'm sorry if it was a bit abrupt." Jonghyun bows and Tao shakes his head, "Hyung! Don't apologize! It's okay!"
Minho claps his hands together, "Okay! Everything's cleared." He announces after setting aside Jonghyun's boxes in his side of the room. "So, who's hungry?"

"Hey, Tao..." Jonghyun shakes the younger awake, "I'm leaving now."
The younger rubs his eyes, "Tell me when I can visit you, okay...?"
"Once we've settled down." Jonghyun smiles and sits next to his roommate, "Tell me when you have potential roommates, alright? I need to make sure I trust him enough."
Tao sits up with a smile, "Kris can handle that too."
Jonghyun pinches Tao's nose, "I know. Anyway, I gotta go."
"Let me help you carry the boxes." Tao is about to jump off his bed when Jonghyun stops him, "Just go back to sleep. Minho and I brought them all down earlier."
"Oh. This isn't goodbye, hyung! So I'm just gonna go to bed and then I'll see you around."
"Of course." Jonghyun smiles, hugs Tao and then leaves the room.
A few blocks from Tao's place, Zhou Mi is kicking Kris awake, "Bitchface, wake up!"
"Ge, can you not...!?" Kris groans and covers his face with a pillow. It's instantly pulled off his face by his roommate and Kris is on the verge of committing murder so early in the morning.
"Fuck, ge. It's a Saturday."
"I would have told you yesterday but you're out with your boyfriend."
Kris groans and kicks his feet in defeat before opening an eye to look at his roommate, "WHAT?!"
"I'm leaving."
"WHAT."
"I got an email from the apprenticeship I've applied for in Paris. I'm leaving Monday morning."
Kris sits up with mouth agape, "Immediately? But you're almost graduating!"
"What's 6 months left before graduation? And isn't this what I want to do anyway? Why study Fashion and the Arts from a school when I can learn it through professionals?"
"Man... Do you need help packing?" He groans, knowing that he packed Jonghyun's stuff yesterday too.
"Nope. I'm done."
"Okay. Now go away. Let's talk later." Kris goes back to sleep and completely ignores the issue at hand.
Around 5 that afternoon, both him and Zhou Mi are watching TV when the lights start flickering. Zhou Mi stands and checks the situation outside, "Wow, it's a disaster out there."
"Great." Kris checks his phone and there's no signal. He sighs and turns the TV off. "I'm just gonna go back to be... Oh shit! Tao!" Zhou Mi flinches when his roommate yells, "The hell is wrong with you?"
"Tao is alone at his place now, and there's typhoon and a potential blackout soon. I'm so stupid, how can I forg--"
"GO NOW THEN!"
Kris runs to his bedroom and takes out his gym bag. He shoves his pajamas, hygiene kit, pair of boxers and a shirt in it. He rummages his drawer for flashlight, matches and candles. He grabs the bag once everything is inside then takes his jacket. He runs to the kitchen to look for any food he and Tao can eat just in case the power goes out.
Zhou Mi watches his roommate frantically open and close the drawers and refrigerator and just throws anything he can inside his gym bag. Kris takes one final check on his stuff (his wallet, and phone carefully tucked inside the bag) before grabbing an umbrella and heading out.
The weather is so bad and even if it's not even night yet, it's getting darker and the rain is making it hard for Kris to see the road he's walking on. People are running to and fro, stumbling and crashing on his shoulder as he makes his way to his boyfriend's dorm. A flash of lightning and a loud roar of thunder after makes Kris fold the umbrella close, run faster and battle it out against the people coming towards him.
He arrives at the building and it's already dark inside. Candles are scattered around the lobby and he just greets the receptionist who greets him back and told him that the power went out about 10 minutes ago. Kris takes out the flashlight from his bag and runs up the stairs to get to Tao's room.
Kris is brushing the water off his hair in front of Tao's dorm when a flash of lightning cuts the skies again. There's a muffled whimper coming inside the room and the blond frantically knocks.
"Babe? It's Kris! Open up!"
The blond hears shuffling and then the door swings open to a crying Tao bundled up in his blanket. "Kris..." The younger runs to him and hugs the older even if Kris' jacket is soaking.
"I'm here now. I'm here now..." He hugs the younger tighter and pushes him inside without releasing him from the hug. "It's so dark in here. Babe, I'm here now. Just calm down and I'll make you feel better, alright?"
Tao nods his head, Kris wipes away the tears from his boyfriend's cheeks and makes the younger sit on his bed. "Take my flashlight, I'm just gonna go change."
"Don't leave!"
"The shower is just 10 feet away."
Tao shakes his head and grabs Kris' arm, "Don't leave..."
"I didn't know you're this afraid of thunderstorms. Remember you ran through the rain before and got sick?"
"... There weren't thunder and lightning then. Just heavy rain."
"Okay. I'll just be behind you, alright? I'm gonna change my clothes. I'm soaked to my boxers." Kris tells Tao and he circles around the bed. He sheds off all his clothes including his underwear and changes to dry ones.
"Are you done?" Tao turns his head and the flashlight. Kris falls to the floor, barechested and halfway into changing to his pajama bottoms. "TAO!!!"
The younger giggles and turns his head away again, "I'm sorry."
Kris sighs and continues changing, he's glad his boyfriend is feeling a bit better and has stopped crying altogether. When he's done putting on his clothes he hugs his boyfriend from behind, "I need to hang my clothes in the shower to dry." He tells the younger but Tao shakes his head 'no'. "I don't want you out of my sight, or touching range."
"Fine." Kris kisses Tao's cheek before jumping off the bed and rummaging his bag for the candles he brought. The blond scatters and lights them up - all the while Tao follows his every movement with the flashlight. When the room is dim enough, Kris sits next to his boyfriend and turns off the flashlight. "Okay, feeling better?" Kris asks and Tao nods his head. "Can I go to the bathroom now and take care of my clothes?"
Tao pouts and nods. Kris kisses his boyfriend's cheek again before he gathers his wet clothes and goes inside the bathroom. He keeps the door open so that Tao can still see him while he hangs his clothes to dry.
"Babe, you hungry?" He asks while twisting his shirt dry. "Yes. I was asleep until around noon and just tried finishing my paper. I didn't realize I was so immersed to it until I heard the thunder." Tao explains. Kris emerges out the bathroom and grabs his bag from the floor, "I have instant ramyeon and dried seaweed. Some chips and..." Kris scrunches his brows, "I have no idea why Zhou Mi and I have tofu in our fridge."
"And you brought tofu here. It will turn bad. I have no fridge."
"I was panicked earlier when I remembered you and that you're alone."
"I want the ramyeon." Tao says and Kris hands it to him. "I have no hot water."
Kris extends his hand, "Let's get that hot water." Tao takes his hand and grabs the flashlight while Kris cradles two cups of instant ramyeon. The younger holds onto Kris' hand tighter as they walk along the dark corridor to go the common kitchen of the floor. The blond starts the hot water while Tao prepare the cups of ramyeon. The blond leans over the counter and Tao hugs him, "I feel so much better now that you're here."
Kris lifts up Tao's chin and kisses him, "Glad to know." Tao smiles and rests his head on the blond's chest. They stay in that position for awhile until the pot's lid shakes and the couple pushes each other off lightly and Kris starts making the ramyeon. "Let's take these back to your room." The blond tells the younger and grabs the flashlight then tucks it under his armpit. Each of them take a cup and they walk back to Tao's room hand in hand.
They settle on the floor and Tao opens the dried seaweeds. "Babe...?" Kris calls out as he mixes his cup of ramyeon.
"Hmn?" Tao looks up with a dried seaweed in his mouth.
"Zhou Mi's moving to Paris on Monday." The blond starts, and Tao just nods, "Babe... How about we move in together too?"
Tao's eyes widen and the seaweed falls from his mouth, "W-what?"
"You have no roommate and so do I. I want to keep you closer too."
"But... Th-this soon?"
"Well..."
"C-can we at least finish eating before we talk about this?"
"Of course..." Kris looks down to his food, he feels dejected and Tao suddenly gives him the cold treatment. The candles are slowly dying and Kris feels bad about bringing it up. Tao finishes his cup and transfers to his bed. Kris follows and sits next to the younger.
"I-if you don't want to, you just have to say it, Tao. I won't take it against you."
"We've been going out two weeks now, right? Officially?"
Kris nods, Tao purses his lips and faces the older, "Do... Do you see us in the long run still together?"
"You're the only one I see with me for a long time. Maybe forever."
Tao leans over and kisses Kris chastely before he faces him eye to eye with a smile, "I want a single bedroom apartment with our own kitchen."
"So you agree to live with me?"
Tao nods as he bites his lower lip, "I was thinking while eating. I can't live on ramyeon alone, and I'd love to cook for you someday too."
"You will? I'm excited! How about we look for a place to move in tomorrow if the weather gets better?"
Tao nods with a wide smile etched on his face, "I'm excited too!" The younger lounges himself to Kris and hugs the blond tight, "I'm so sick of takeouts and instant ramyeon..."
A thunder roars louder outside and Tao crawls over Kris' lap and hugs the blond tighter, "Yeah, definitely better if we're together..."
Tao removes himself from Kris and lies on the bed, the blond hovers above the younger, "I know we both should be studying the whole week ahead but maybe we can make time looking at apartments near the campus too."
The younger nods, "Of course. I don't want it as big as yours and Mi-ge, I want it cozy and warm."
"Do you want it fully furnished?" Kris asks and Tao nods. "In the future, when we're rich and stable, maybe we can buy a place that we can decorate as our own."
Kris smiles and leans down to kiss Tao. The younger pulls Kris closer by the back of his neck and angles his head a little to accomodate the blond better. Kris dares himself to lick Tao's bottom lip, and when the younger parts his lips, he swipes his tongue slowly inside his boyfriend's mouth. The younger moans under Kris and it's the sweetest sound the blond has heard from his boyfriend. The blond explores Tao's mouth and even playfully sucking on the younger's tongue. They part when they both run out of air and they just both stare each other down.
Kris takes in Tao's messy hair, flushed cheeks and slightly swollen lips in the dim room. The blond smiles and gives him a light peck, "You're a beautiful mess." Tao scrunches his brows and pouts, Kris grins, "My beautiful mess."
Tao smiles and just pulls Kris into a tight hug. The blond buries his head in the crook of Tao's neck. He can feel the younger trace circles on his back, and Kris shifts his head a little to be more comfortable. His breath ghosts over Tao's skin and he can feel the younger boy shiver under him.
"Don't ever leave me, Kris."
"I'll never."
"Don't you dare hurt me."
"I won't."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
It's silent for a moment until Kris feels Tao's chest shaking a little. He leans up to see Tao crying silently, "Babe...? What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong... I'm just happy."
"But you're crying."
Tao shakes his head and pulls Kris back down so that he can hug the older boy tighter and that the blond won't see his crying face, "I'm just happy to know you're mine, Kris Wu."
"Shhh... I'm yours, I'm yours. Don't cry..."
Kris hears Tao's soft sobs against him. He hugs him and pulls him closer when he lies on his side and let the younger cry on his chest. The weather outside gets calm as the raven haired boy falls asleep next to Kris.

Tao wakes up the next morning to Kris' voice talking on the phone. He drapes his arm on his boyfriend's waist and the blond leans down to kiss his forehead, "Yes. We can check it out later. Thank you." Kris tells the other person on the other end of the line before sliding down and lying next to Tao again. He turns to his side and just stares at the younger boy. They don't say it, maybe none has the courage to voice it out yet but Kris knows, that he's in love with Tao - too deep in love sometimes it hurts a little. And he's certain that Tao is in love with him too judging how the younger broke down last night.
"I-is something wrong?" Tao asks, Kris shakes his head. "Good morning, babe."
Tao smiles, "Good morning." The younger moves closer so he can cuddle to Kris, "Let's stay in for a bit longer..."
"Babe?"
"Hmn...?"
"I was browsing for apartments and I was talking to some apartment owners earlier. I said we'll check out the places later." Kris explains and Tao just smiles. The younger is about to sleep more when his eyes shoot open, "Oh!" The younger sits up and grabs his phone from his bedside table, "I must tell Jonghyun-hyung!"
"You two are really close, huh?"
Tao smiles, "Of course! He's my brother!"
"He's your what?!"
"My foster brother. My family was his host family when he studied high school in China. He was the one who convince mama and papa so that I can move here." Tao explains and Kris nods his head in understanding. The blond moves his head and lies on his boyfriend's lap and keeps his silence as Tao waits for Jonghyun to answer his call. He can feel Tao's hand run through his hair softly and he purrs in content.
"HYUNG! I have a new roommate!"
'Really? Who is it? I told you to tell me about a potential roommate first before agreeing.'
"Well, it's..." Kris extends his hand and Tao hands his phone over, "Hey, hyung?"
'Oh, Kris. You slept over?'
"Y-yeah and uhmn, I'd like to ask your permission."
'Permission to what?'
"Tao and I are gonna move in together too..."
'Really?! Great!!! I mean, at least it's you and I won't have to worry about some asshole rooming with Tao.'
"I think I should be more worried about that." Kris laughs, "We'll hunt for apartments later too. Hopefully we can find one today since it's exams week soon."
'Alright! We'll visit each others' apartments soon, okay?'
"Got it." Kris ends the conversation and returns the phone to Tao. "Ge...?"
"Yeah?"
"If ever, can we not tell our friends about this yet? Until after we've settled if that's alright?"
"Of course. Come on, let's grab breakfast."

The couple walks inside the quaint home diner they frequent on 7th street called 'R squared Pie' and they find Luhan, Sehun, Kyungsoo and Kai in one table. Tao sighs inwardly because he can't ignore them especially since Kris is already leading their way to the said table.
"H-hi." Tao greets them, Luhan obviously forces a smile and the other three genuinely do so. "We're gonna join you guys, is it okay?" Kris asks, and Luhan jumps on his seat, "Of course!"
"Hyung!" Sehun tries to calm his bestfriend and Tao sees how Luhan's eyes train on his boyfriend. "Uh, we're gonna order our food." Tao grabs Kris and they make their way to the counter. He can hear Sehun trying to make Luhan behave while Kris asks him what he wants to eat.
"Babe...? You okay?"
Tao turns to Kris, "Yeah." Kris smiles and pulls Tao into a tight hug, "Stop spacing out."
"Sorry." Tao scratches the back of his neck and Kris ruffles his hair, "Go and sit down with them. I'll take care of our breakfast."
"But..."
"Babe, they're your friends. Go."
Tao pouts and walks to the table in defeat. He decides to sit beside Sehun so he won't see Luhan's face across him. "Your eyes are swollen, Tao! What happened?" Kyungsoo asks as he leans over the table to get a closer look.
"They are?" Tao asks, genuinely surprised. He takes out his phone and uses the camera as mirror, "Oh god. I look horrible."
"Did you two fight?" Luhan asks with an obvious bite on his tone. Tao barely hears him say, 'because really, you should be fighting by now.' but Sehun clasps a hand over the older Chinese's mouth. Tao clears his throat, "Uh, n-no, ge. We're not fighting. I was crying last night because of the weather."
Tao hears Luhan scoff and he can tell even if he can't see the older Chinese that he's rolling his eyes, "It's just the weather, what's there to cry about?"
"Hyung, can you not?" Sehun turns to his bestfriend, Luhan shrugs innocently as if he didn't say anything offensive at all. Kai shakes his head with a disappointed eye roll and just mouths, 'Just ignore him.' Tao nods and shrugs, as if he can do anything about it anyway. Kris returns just in time and takes the seat next to Kai across his boyfriend, "Bought you Ham and Cheese bagel," he puts the plate in front of Tao, "And orange juice because coffee gives you bad stomach in the morning."
"Thank you." Tao smiles and starts eating, Kai snorts and chuckles next to Kris, "What?" The young Chinese asks. "You're a married couple." Kai comments and the couple in question (and Luhan too) chokes on their food.
Kyungsoo slaps his boyfriend's arm lightly but still agrees with him anyway, "He's right though. We've been dating a month now and I don't even know what makes Jongin's tummy go bad."
Kris laughs awkwardly, the red on his cheeks evident as he speaks, "It just comes naturally, I think. He told me what he hates eating and drinking, I took notes."
"Does Tao know what you hate and like too?" Luhan asks and Tao flinches a little, he isn't sure if he's supposed to answer that. He's about to when Kris answers for him, "Yeah, I guess. He knows I hate brocolli and I'm lactose intolerant. He makes sure my milk tea only has soy milk. He finds soy milk gross at first but he loves it now too."
"Ewww. Soy milk on milk tea." Sehun cringes next to Tao and the ravenhaired boy faces him, "No! I-it's good. You should try it."
"Hyung, do you have plans later?" Kai asks everyone, "We should group study, you can all come to my place later."
"It's a disaster waiting to happen. We can't be all in one place because Chanyeol would probably end up bringing booze anyway." Kyungsoo reprimands him, "You're just trying to find an excuse to throw a party - on a Sunday night, nonetheless."
"Engaged couple." Sehun comments and everyone on the table laughs. "You're so whipped, Kai." The maknae adds. Kai raises an eyebrow then smirks, "Not as whipped as your sorry ass."
"I'll kick your ass, Kim Jongin." Sehun threatens and Kai just sticks out his tongue. Kris laughs with them and checks his watch, "Babe, we should go."
Tao nods with an evident blush on his cheeks, "Bye guys." He stands and Kai grins, "Bye, BABE." Kai, Sehun and Kyungsoo makes teasing sounds and Kris just waves them goodbye. Tao doesn't miss the grim look on Luhan's face before they leave the restaurant.
Kris is checking his phone while the two of them walk by the roadside, "So... There are three places we can check out today." The blond pauses for a bit as he browses through his notes, "There's one here on 7th, actually." Kris tugs on his hand and takes him to the direction of the apartment. "It's no. 59 and man, this street is endless." The blond comments as they walk further into the said street. "It's a far walk to the campus."
"We should still check it out. Might be a good place, and could be cheaper too." Tao responds optimistically, and Kris nods. The vacant apartment is on the 5th floor and the place has no elevator. They're both panting for breath when they reach the room.
The couple checks the place and it's kinda nice but the furniture is just not to their liking. They considered the distance of the place to the campus and though it's cheap, they politely say that they're gonna look around some more.
"I think we can find better places." Kris comments when they are out of the building and Tao agrees. The blond checks his phone again and tells Tao there's another apartment on 4th street. The younger shakes his head, "I don't want to live in that street."
"Why not?"
"I just don't."
Kris shrugs, "Okay then. We can check the one on 1st street."
"Can we rest first? I'm a little exhausted."
"Want me to get my car?"
Tao shakes his head, "No, save your gas money." The younger sits on a nearby bench and Kris sits beside him. He wonders why his boyfriend refused to live there potentially but doesn't ask why. He'll find out soon enough anyway.
"Ge, we both don't have classes on Wednesday, right?"
Kris nods, Tao beams, "We can check more places too!"
"I'm glad you're excited."
"We're gonna live together! It'll be fun! Let's go!" Tao stands and pulls Kris up.
They get to the apartment after about 15 - 20 minutes of walking. The building isn't too far from the campus, the place is located on the third floor and the place has its own elevator and stairs. The room itself is a bit spacey but still has a very roomy feeling. There's a small kitchen and living room with a loveseat.
"This was rented by a newlywed couple and they left some of the furniture." Mr. Kwak, the owner starts after the couple gets an initial look at the place, "Unfortunately, the bedroom is left bare."
Tao nods but runs to the said room nonetheless with Kris in tow, "Mr. Kwak, can we repaint the room?"
"You can. If you're hanging up pictures, you can drill holes on the wall too, but please don't do it at night, or else we might get complaints."
Tao shows his delight and runs around the apartment. Kris watches his boyfriend as he discovers the nooks and crannies of the place. "Kris! We have a bathtub!" Tao exclaims and runs in front of Mr. Kwak, "Do the water work?"
"Yes, sir. I'll leave you two and you can meet me at the lobby if you decide to take the place." Mr. Kwak takes his leave and the two are left alone inside. Tao runs to Kris and hugs his boyfriend, "Let's live here! If this is a bit pricey than my previous room, I'd work part-time! I want this place!"
"You're not gonna work part-time. This is probably cheaper than my previous apartment anyway!" Kris tilts Tao's face so they're face to face, "Are you decided? You know I'm just gonna be content if you're with me and as long as you're happy."
Tao smiles and nods vigorously, "Let's repaint the room on Wednesday!"
Kris hugs his boyfriend and looks around the place, "Well, the kitchen and dining area is complete. The living room... Hmn. Babe, do we need a TV?"
"I guess?"
Kris smirks, "I'm gonna take the TV off Zhou Mi's hands then. He can leave that behind before he moves to Paris." Tao hits his chest lightly before looking around the place as well, he pulls Kris into the bedroom and they look at the baby pink wall, "I don't like pink." Tao comments and Kris hums in agreement, "I always wanted a black painted room." Kris mumbles and Tao raises an eyebrow, "Too dark, Kris..."
"Red?"
The younger narrows his eyes and whispers, "Too sexy."
The blond laughs and pulls his boyfriend into a hug, "What color do you want, then?"
"Lavender, maybe?"
"Compromise? Purple?"
"Purple it is." Tao grins and leans up to kiss his boyfriend. Kris takes Tao's hand and they leave the room, "Come on, let's sign contracts and stuff."
They talk to Mr. Kwak and the apartment turns out cheaper than Kris' apartment (though more expensive than Tao's). Kris still takes it after Tao looks disappointed that the younger might not be able to afford his half in the long run. The blond tells the older man that they'll start moving in the coming days after he charges the initial deposit to his credit card.
"Ge... M-maybe we should have looked for a cheaper place? Maybe I got a little too excited too." Tao tells Kris after they left the building, Kris holds his hand tighter.
"Tao, don't worry, okay? I'm graduating soon and I already have a potential job waiting for me around the area anyway. It's a start for me already and bonus too since you're with me."

"Stuff like those." Tao smiles and hands his boyfriend his towel. Kris returns behind the curtain to dry himself off, "We should buy a huge one."
"Why's that?" Tao asks, as he hands Kris his clothes.
"Because we'll be pinning tons of stuff there for sure."
