The urgent message on his NOC pulled Grant from his walk from the Enforcer Headquarters. It was Mercy and...zombies? He'd heard her and the others talk about them from the shows they'd watched or books they'd read. But where they really here? Well. There were vampires...

Quickly feeling out where Mercy was, Grant put on a burst of speed so he could try and get to her as soon as possible. He didn't have any guns or anything to defend them with. But he couldn't let her run around by herself. After what seemed like forever he caught her running further into the park. And sure enough there were two creatures chasing her. And they smelled so vile.

"Mercy!" He yelled, trying to filter his way to get into step with her without crossing paths with the zombies. Luckily they didn't seem to travel that fast. He caught up with her quickly. "How do we stop them?"

Grant watched Dante walk off, wishing the circumstances were different so he could be a little more appreciative. But he didn't feel well at all. And he was worried about everyone other than himself. The last thing he wanted to think about was what was going to happen to him from this stupid bite.

He watched Mercy try and direct him to the clinic but he didn't move. He merely listened to what Jason had to say before glancing up at Mercy. Grant didn't know how to explain himself to her. "No, I'm not. Not until I know that the others are ok. I'm not going anywhere until we know they are."

She felt like stamping her foot, like having a fit and just portaling them to the clinic and dealing with the fall out later. But she understood, if it was her, she'd be the same. "Right, fine." Getting anything done while he was being stubborn wouldn't help.

Making the offer to Jason, knowing that maybe Lauren could talk to Grant, and then getting the order, well that cleared a few things up. "There, you hear that?"

She wasn't exactly the poster child for following orders, she did what she wanted most of the time and dealt with the fall out later. When she heard the groan of more of those things and the rapid fire from over the NOC, well, Mercy knew that they couldn't linger around. "I've to get you there," because this was an order she wanted to follow, "Reed said so."

They could worry about the others on the way.

Don't worry about Lauren? It was a little late for that. And that was one thing that Grant's mind couldn't comply with. But Jason had given an order. Orders were meant to be followed. Grant followed orders.

But he couldn't leave Lauren by herself, not with those things. She had her gun and could take care of herself but that wouldn't be enough. Not for long. And he didn't want to think about what would happen to her. If anything happened to Lauren...he didn't know what he would do.

"...I can't." Closing his eyes tightly, Grant concentrated on his breathing, and then felt where Lauren was. Her life force was so recognizable to to him. He would rather die than never feel it again. Orders or not, he wasn't leaving Lauren to fight or die alone. So he turned in the direction that he felt her and began to walk as fast as he could, which wasn't very fast, in her direction.

If she were capable of it, her jaw would hit the deck. If she could process the situation she'd probably deck it. Grant was disobeying an order; realistically, he was forcing her to disobey an order, since Reed gave it to her. "Grant." She was stuck to the spot, even as he slowly started to walk away from her, and in the wrong direction.

"Grant, do not make me clobber you and drag you there." Could Lauren handle herself, yes. But then, they all could, and they all knew it. But there were some things that you just couldn't help but worry about.

And that foul stench was getting stronger, so Mercy marched towards Grant, easily catching up with him. "Dude, we do not have time for this, you are injured, Lauren is armed, I'm sure she's fine." She didn't want to bring up the fact that he was starting to look a little clammy around the edges, that his face was going that yucky sort of grey colour and draining of any kind of human resemblance.

"I will shoot you." They both knew she wouldn't.

Grant was having a hard time making himself go the wrong way. He wasn't sure if he was so unsteady because that bite was making him sick, or he was disgusted with himself for how hard this was. Going to get Lauren should be the right way. First and foremost ( ... )

He had a point. He had a very good point. She didn't usually, and really, what she needed to do was whatever it took to get him to agree to go to the clinic. It was the better way to handle things. She was sure of it. "Okay, we get Lauren, then you go to the clinic?"

She was going to get into such shit for this, but it wasn't a disobeyed order, there was just one stop between following out the order, there just wasn't the time to debate it.

"Do you know where she is? I can get us there quicker but," but that would be it. She wasn't looking to push herself to sickness, not now, not with these things around. She didn't need to land them right on top of a horde of the things. "But then you're going to the clinic, no argument."

He nodded, his eyes closing tightly for a moment as he felt a swell of nausea overwhelm him. But he was very good at hiding pain. "You can portal us there."

Grant kept his eyes closed and waited for the nausea to go away so he could track Lauren again. It felt like his head was full of water and his body was so hot...

"She's..in an old shop building. Midway to the complex. It's..right by your business' building." Finally he opened his eyes again, letting out air he didn't know he was holding. "Do you know where I'm talking about?"

Hiding things was one thing, but there were creases on Grant's face that shouldn't be there, worry lines that were more pronounced. Mercy wasn't blind to the fact that he was getting ill fast, Dante had been on the ball with that. Shit, she had to find Lauren, and fast ( ... )
