Have you met Ferdinand Putter? His Mini-Golf opened today, and he lives in the City Royale. Did you know that once upon a time he was just like you, a Castle Resident? Now he's running the Paradisa Putt Academy. Thankfully he had actual architects to help him out in this venture, as his permanent loss was his ability to do anything in a straight ( Read more... )

Wow, this is something to look forward to.

2 questions until I can have a mind clear enough to come up with more:

1. When added to the wiki, will each NPC have a page of their own, or be included on a page encompassing all NPCs? If it's the latter, who is allowed to edit it?

2. What are the NPCs like knowledge-wise? Do they know of technology, skills or norms from certain residents' worlds? Is this up to a form submitter to decide?

1. At the moment, we're thinking about a page for all of them. The only issue is that this is a bit of info to go with each one, and going through a mile long page might not work out so well. If it gets to be too much on one page, then we'll probably split them up into categories. Like "Business Types" "Villain Types" and so on ( ... )

Er...So basically we're now allowed to make OCs? .-.

The fourth type of resident, some of you have been using without even knowing it! All of the other patrons, the other people at the bar, the people that start fights, get into fights, or break up fights; now have names. All of the people that pick your pockets, mug you, get mugged, get beat up or knock people down; now all have losses.

I know that. I'm saying that the form and description they're giving for this fourth type of resident sounds like you're making a sort of OC.

In theory you go through the same steps, but you won't have to come up with behaviorism or backstory for them. You'll never have to write them directly either. The details are there just so that they can be easily referred to by anyone.

I guess I'm kind of confused on the point of making them former castle residents and different from townspeople with losses and all sorts of things. I'm not opposed to it, but just a little confused because it's a little ...convoluted? Why not just have all the townspeople have actual personalities or is this something to throw the chars off about Paradisa? And are we going to eventually have an explanation as to why there's a fourth group that used to chill out in the castle but don't anymore - something discovered IC?

The townspeople at the moment are part of the world plot. They are the way they are for a specific reason, that has yet to be unfolded. This new layer of residents is in a way part of the world plot, but in a much less significant way. The new fourth level of NPC is supposed to work out so that you're able to do more with your character on a plot level ( ... )

...I think I'm more confused. XD I'm really sorry. So there are essentially three levels of townspeople: 1. creepy zombie ones 2. normal people with personalities (i.e. the girl who flirts with you at the counter, the criminals you kill) -- ones you don't need to fill forms out for3. former residents who play an NPC part in a mini plot -- ones you need to fill out forms for?

It's totally fine!

Townspeople are the creepy zombie ones. In the wiki it talks about the people that are Native to Paradisa, and how they can't remember people once they start talking to them, and have no real sense of time. Here's Native Paradisa People They are in a sense blank slates because you can walk up to them a hundred times and they'd think it was the first time they've bumped into you ( ... )

Whoo, what Kat said; Why not just have all the townspeople have actual personalities or is this something to throw the chars off about Paradisa?

That's my biggest question, too. I knew that they were supposed to be forgetful and such and have their memories messed with by the castle so you couldn't make friends with them or get answers out of them or anything, but I never knew they were supposed to basically be blank slates. When it's put that way, I... guess it almost makes me wonder what was the point of them in the first place when you throw in these NPCs that are former castle residents.

That's what I was thinking. I mean, people are already weirded out when they hear there have been people here for two years who haven't returned to their homes. I'm sure there will be characters that will be here for longer than that as the game goes on. I guess it just feels kind of strange to have there suddenly be people who are castle residents - if the current castle residents even find out that they were once that?
