Okay that could have gone worse. Kanda could see... Roxas was a fighter. Not a swordsman but... maybe this wouldn't be as horrible as he was picturing it to be. "Again." And again- "Until you can do it without thinking about your balance."

It had to be natural, fluid- and oh god, was he recalling General Theodore's teachings now?

Roxas let himself grin for a moment. He didn't get chewed out, at least.

"Uh, okay." Not thinking about his balance? Yeah, he could manage that. Roxas kept swinging the sword, careful not to drop it or lose his grip. It wasn't the swing itself that was difficult, it was the moment right after the swing was completed. The sword was just a lot different from the keyblade in weight.

He let himself get absorbed in watching the sword go back and forth. He did stumble a few times, and he did have to make one quick twist with his wrist in order to prevent the sword from slipping out of his fingers, but... it wasn't as bad as he thought.

Kanda looked on with a frown whenever Roxas stumbled or nearly lost his grip on the sword. It... well, he was still controlling his temper rather admirably but then he stepped in. "Wrong."

And now he looked more than just annoyed. This weapon was all wrong for this kid, that was for sure. Reaching over he grabbed Roxas hand so they were more evenlly spread across the hilt. "It's heavy you need to hold it like that."

"It's meant to be... fluid, you look like you're about to let go of the sword and take someone's head by accident."

Kanda moved around, "Now," Kanda pulled Mugen from his waist but didn't unsheath it. "Swing at me."

"I'm sure that's where the element of surprise came from," Roxas tried to lighten the mood, smiling weakly. Again, he did as he was told... but he was getting a little annoyed. Not at Kanda, but the whole situation. It wasn't fair. Paradisa had taken away the thing that he needed the most. Memories? He could do without those. Axel and Sora had.

Narrowing his eyes, Roxas found himself hesitating for a moment. Kanda was the experienced one here, so there was no danger... right? He let out a breath. If he was going to show Kanda that he was more than just a friend of Sora and Axel's, it would be now.

He set his jaw and set forward, swinging at Kanda as instructed.
