Notes: ANYONE is welcome. Prose or brackets. I'm just having Katherine start it off, but feel free to have your very own thread. This is a party-post of sorts. It's at the Lux and there are plenty of wines and platters of small bits

Neal's year anniversary was yesterday.

He wasn't entirely sure how he felt about that.

The castle wasn't that bad. He didn't normally have issues with it, so long as it wasn't a day that ended in a "y", but for the days that did he had friends. He had interesting people to talk to, and to the place's credit, it was never boring. He was fairly certain that Peter and Mozzie would have a field day.

(He missed Peter and Mozzie. That was the problem.)

Still, even when his days in the castle weren't fantastic, they were things like wine tastings to pick them up. Which was where Neal was now, lounging in one of the booths and people watching, with the glass of wine resting on the table next to him. He wasn't feeling quite up to being his normal, social charming self, but if you come over to talk to him, he might muster it up for just one.

Katherine was pleasantly surprised to see Neal at the event. It wasn't as though she had expected any less, he seemed to be one of the few that could enjoy something like this.

She moved through the crowd and slide over beside him, ensuring that personal space wasn't quite an issue.

"At least there's one familiar face."

When he saw Katherine, the charming smile that slipped into place was a tad more genuine than the one he had been using earlier. She was right -- a familiar face was always nice. He shifted to face her a little more before nodding.

"I shouldn't be surprised. These things always do tend to attract the most interesting people."

"So, I'm an interesting person, now? I think I'll take the compliment."

She glanced at his glass, "What are you drinking?"

He turned as well, before picking it up and taking another sip. "The Bordeaux. But there is quite the collection over there."

"I've noticed you making eyes at the stack of bottles the blond brought up. I take it you plan on sampling a few more things here?"

"That is the point of a wine tasting," he said with a bit of a smirk. "And I like to know what they have to use for my own purposes later."

Jo wanting to hire you as a cook clearly had it's benefits.

"And what might those purposes be?"

"If have to make a rather impressive meal, for one," he said with a shrug. "Or if I'm just in need of a nice drink. I like having wine around."

"Having a stocked winery is always a good thing to desire."

"It can be one of life's simple pleasures."

"Shall I leave you to enjoy your wine?"

"I've found that wine can be much better with company, don't you?"

"It's true, but there's quite a lot of company to be had this evening. Are you sure you want to spend it with me?"

"I think you are the ideal form of company, Ms. Pierce."

"Then I'm glad to be just that for you."
