Cordelia wasn't really sure what to believe one way or the other on the vampire attacks. She didn't want to believe it was Angel. She couldn't believe it was Angel. She knew that he had his soul, and even if this was a loss --

It wasn't. Angelus was much more dramatic, he wouldn't just leave the body for anyone to find. He would make sure that a specific person found them. But she would wait until she saw it, and until it was confirmed one way or the other, she would bring along her super-powered coworker who was probably as fast as a vamp, if not faster.

After all, that's what they were for, right?

"Hey, Harm," she sighed, before pointing back over her shoulder. "This is Max. Max, Harmony."

"Yo," Max said with a wave, before moving closer. "That your dead chick?"

Harmony waited and when Cordelia and one of the girls she remembered from the auction showed up, she stood up. She hoped that this sudden girl-meeting in the alley wouldn't raise suspicions, but she wasn't sure what else to do.

"Hi, Max and this is the girl. There's a guy, Angel, he's been accused of doing things like this, but it's not his style. Even if he was on a loss I think once people started to point fingers he would've tried to go lock himself up or something. He's just... that good of a guy."

Moving over toward Cordelia, she linked her arm with her friend, "I didn't know what else to do. I would've called Spike, but we don't exactly talk much."

"Talking to Spike is not a way to spend an evening. Trust me," Cordelia sighed, leaning into her friend a bit. "Besides, he may be on our side, but he and Angel aren't exactly BFFs."

Max pretty much tuned them out. She was busy focusing on the body and finding out what Cordelia and Harmony wanted to know -- whether or not their boy did it. There are two different kinds of dead in Paradisa. There's really dead, and then there's vampire dead. Vamps from Cordy's world were pretty distinctive in the fact that they smelled dead, but weren't. In fact, if blondie over there was any indication, they were pretty distinctive all on their own.

And this wasn't a match.

She crouched down to get a better look, just to be sure, but whatever did this, didn't smell dead. In fact, it wasn't even close. "Not a vamp from your world," she sighed. "They tend to smell dead, and whatever did this didn't."

Harmony frowned, moving her arm to her nose, "I don't smell dead."

It was a bit insulting, because Harmony showered every day. In fact, she made sure to shower before work and being in the alley shouldn't have made her smell dead.
