Staring at the grave made it harder. Made it more real. And as much as she should have been listening to the toast, Kaylee found her gaze wandering over the tombstones there. So many dead.

She drinks a shot for Sam. And one for Kat. And then it only seems right to drink one for Sister, even if she mostly only knew her through Washington's complaints.

Given enough composure, she might have tried to drink a shot for all six, but as the alcohol starts to buzz under her skin, the emotions bubble up to the surface. Even so, it's only when the cold against her face makes her reach up to wipe away the freezing tears that she realizes she's crying.

Jo gives her a moment before she moves over to join Kaylee. Offering her a tissue, she'd kept a packet of them in her back pocket. "Here, it'll feel better than a cold fingertip."

He doesn't know Sam or Jo...but with Brennan coming so close to sharing that memorial...

He couldn't miss this, once Jo had given him the invitation. After the toast, he makes his way closer to the headstone, his hand moving to cross himself automatically as he gazes down at the grave.

Everyone had been saying they came back in two weeks. Just one minute gone, the next back like nothing had ever happened. Was it really death, if you could do that?

But, death or not, one thing was sure. There was no denying this one had paid too high a price.

"Sorry we didn't get there faster, kid..."

Jo had met Booth just the once and apparently Sam had talked to him the once as well, but she knew that he'd been worried and he'd been one of the few people that actually seemed worried when Sam went missing. She gave him a bit of time to himself before approaching him.

"Thank you for coming. I know you didn't know Sam very well, but I know he'd have appreciated you offering to help me and just being here."

Lois had always hated funerals, and even though this was technically a 'memorial service', it was close enough to set off all those internal alarms that Lois had such a hard time with. She'd like to think she'd gotten better at it though, learned to face it, at least. Carter, Jonathan Kent... She'd shown up, and bit back the tears, and given them the respect they deserved. She didn't want to hide from her grief in their eyes, at least.

But this...

She had such a hard time feeling like she belonged here in any way. Sam was a friend, she would definitely admit that, but not a close friend, and as such, the fact that she had been the one who Isis had used to kill him continued to simply haunt Lois' every thought throughout the ceremony ( ... )

Jo was relieved that Lois had come. She honestly felt like she had overstepped slightly during their earlier talk. It wasn't as if she wanted to just ramble all over the girl, but it seemed that once she got started and had her mind made up -- there wasn't a way to dissuade her.

She moved over toward Lois, unsure of what else to say, "I think for once I might be outta words."
