Thinking about the meeting on the Ferris Wheel was a painful memory, but ever since that day Naruto could not help but repeat the words that were exchanged in his mind over and over again. He was slowly driving himself to insanity with his obsession of having Sasuke all for himself, but there were not many selfish intentions behind why. To an outsider it probably seemed as though Naruto was trying to hog his best friend's attention but they had no idea what this all meant to him. Having Sasuke here at such a close physical distance had given them many opportunities to meet, much more than they ever did or would have at home where most of the time Naruto did not even know where Sasuke was. Living in the same confined space helped Naruto begin to rebuild their friendship, and though it had been working well enough, Naruto also knew there was going to be that day when Sasuke probably snapped and tried to kill Itachi again. Perhaps he had been blinding himself with denial, but he had never expected or wanted it to be so soon, and he had ( ... )

However, as egotistical as it may have sounded, Naruto knew he could take care of Sasuke the most. He knew their friendship was deeper than any other and would always be that way, no matter how far Sasuke tried to distance himself. Their bond was set in stone, concrete, forever unchanging, whether they liked it or not. Subconsciously, Naruto would always need Sasuke and Sasuke would always need Naruto, even though the latter never admitted that to anyone. They fed on one another for happiness and support yet at the same time they caused the other the worst pain possible. They were the best and worst things for each other. Despite that, Naruto was still willing to sacrifice his entire life to be with Sasuke forever, no matter what it took or how long. If it was necessary he would spend the next ten, twenty, thirty years chasing him, confident that he could win this battle in the end, confident that Sasuke would want to return after completing his goal. Team seven would be together again as a family and Naruto would make sure it ( ... )

Even during training sessions, Sasuke was always on the move, always thinking ahead before he followed through with any attack. Just as Naruto stumbled back, he charged at him, expecting him to blindly throw a punch or a kick, which he did, and he shifted his body to the side in a duck, dodging, while bringing up one of his hands to push on his shoulder as he swung his other for another punch to the face ( ... )

Two first-class ninjas are able to read each other's minds with just one exchange of their fists... even if they don't say it out loud.

Those words were said to Naruto by Sasuke during their last big confrontation as friends at the Valley of the End. Naruto had realized the sudden seriousness in Sasuke's intentions of killing Naruto to get by him, and as scary as it was it also depressed him to think he had gone that far so quickly... to be willing to cut away the closest bond he had that was not related to hatred. He could not forget those words in particular because they represented their relationship quite well. Neither of them were exactly official "top shinobi" but they had the potential to grow into them. Despite that fact, Naruto and Sasuke did not need to be on such high levels to understand one another well enough to read the other's mind. At the time, Sasuke had called Naruto naive and asked him if he honestly thought he was able to read his mind. Although Sasuke was insanely difficult to read most of the time, fighting was ( ... )

Flashbacks of the night Sasuke had literally crumbled in Naruto's arms during his breakdown mere three months ago suddenly popped into Naruto's mind as another fist quickly came at him, and he just barely snapped out of it fast enough to bend his upper body backwards and do a half-flip to kick that arm away, completing the backflip so that he was a few paces away from Sasuke, staring at him intensely. He had tried to keep his face expressionless as long as possible, but apparently he could not last very long because a deep scowl had already surfaced. Sasuke was using that same face, however, completely devoid of anything but apparent apathy.

Just looking at it made him so angry.

"Sasuke..." His voice came out in a low growl, almost surprising himself at the intensity of that one word. His chest burned with something Naruto could not understand and his eyes were probably showing off his deepest, darkest feelings at the moment. They always betrayed him ( ... )
