While the look she witnessed had made her feel slightly more at ease, she would have given almost anything to replace it with one of recognition. The unspoken communication between them that had always come so naturally was there, but it had been greatly reduced due to his lack of memories.
For a moment, the confidence in her eyes was replaced with a look of sorrow that was quickly done away with. She wouldn't let her true feelings show, not yet. He was as lost as she was, and she refused her to burden him further.
Grinning a bit more, she spoke again, her voice flowing smoothly, not betraying her thoughts. "Now are you going to stand there like an awkward high schooler oggling his new homeroom teacher, or are you going to invite me in?"

Catching the almost instant shift in appearance, Urahara only smiled sadly and took a step back into his room. He, too, would have given anything to have the memories, not that he knew what they were. It was obvious to the both of them that they were important, whether they were good or bad. There had to be some way to get them back, even if he were forced to lose something else.
Instinctively, his hand touched the brim of his hat as he made his way back to his spot on the edge of the bed. Looking back up at her, he took off the hat, setting it next to him. "You're more than welcome to come in, even with me staring." He chuckled a bit, "Did you expect me to do anything but? I wasn't expecting..." You to look like you. His voice trailed off as he laughed again. He wasn't ( ... )

If she had known what he was thinking, she would have made sure he never learned about the only way for his price to possibly change. Yoruichi would rather have him forget about her entirely than to go through anything related to that. Not after having Tatsuki and Orihime subjected to it.
She arched a brow, feigning a look of curiosity. "You weren't expecting what? Really, Kisuke, contrary to popular belief, I'm not a mind reader."

Urahara nodded. What could he say to that? She sounded so sure, even though he could only assume that she wasn't. "Partially remembering you isn't good enough for me. It worries me what else I could lose, but I'm not afraid of taking the chance." He sobered a bit before he spoke again, "Honestly, I'm not sure of the best way going about this. There's a lot we need to do. We would also have to speak with Inoue-san."

"Alright, then," was all she said before standing. "Leave Inoue to me; this is something I think she could understand better coming from another woman," she said as she gazed out the window. "Let me know when you have... the rest worked out."
Reaching down, she plucked the hat from his grasp and gently placed it on his head. Leaving her hand there for a moment longer, she said, almost inaudibly, "Thank you, Kisuke," before walking out.

Urahara nodded silently to her thank you and watched her leave. He continued to sit on the floor and pressed the hat closer to his head, just thinking. He'd be sitting there for a while.
