Ruby looked about her room. Chess board, chess board. Now this was new she had never actually asked the castle for a chess board... she'd always used those belonging to other people....

Lana, however, had a chess board. With a grin Ruby popped into Lana's room and dug around in her closet a bit until she found the wooden board. Ruby had a horrible habit of pilfering Lana's thing but the other girl never cared at all so she didn't see any reason not to.

Before taking off again Ruby pondered... how exactly to reach his room... She considered just warping in, after all she and the Doctor had sort of...bonded recently. ... But Ruby chose to pop just outside of his door and actually knock. She wasn't entirely sure why... but she did.

Hearing the knock, the Doctor raised his eyebrows in mild surprise. Ruby, knocking? Now there was a surprise. He'd been under the general impression that she simply popped in wherever and whenever she felt like it. Of course, there was always the possibility that it was someone else, but most people he knew would either have told him in advance or smashed the door down. It only made sense for it to be her.

All these thoughts flashed through his brain in the matter of seconds it took to get up and head for the door, so he was 97% positive it was Ruby by the time he pulled it open.

"Ruby! Hello, come in. See you've found a board." The trademarked manic grin was firmly set in place as he waved her inside. "Ahhh, little messy as you can see, but there should be room on the table over there."

Ruby beamed at the Doctor in a sunny manner the moment the door opened, revealing him to her. She lifted the board when he mentioned it and laughed. "Knicked it more like," she giggled, "But no need to get into that." With a wink Ruby moved past him into his room. It was indeed a disaster. The Doctor's room resembled what Ruby imagined a room would look like if the Terminator and several UFO's had a bar brawl and exploded ( ... )
