It was almost hard to believe that he was going to be rebuilding his ship. Not because this was another world or because he'd never considered it before but only because, ever since some days back, Cid could see again. Which wasn't to say that if he'd still been blind it wouldn't have happened, but then he would have had to do a lot of sitting back and letting others take a go at it, or otherwise his own share of the work would go rather slowly. No, this way he could right up front, handling everything the way he knew it should be handled ( ... )

It was nice, to hear Cid's voice after what seemed like eons of not hearing from the gruff pilot. Though, the tugging, he could certainly of done without. He grimaced, human hand going to the back of his head before half turning to raise an eyebrow at the other. He had not been caught off guard by Cid's approaching, but rather the action. Perhaps... Perhaps he was just thinking in terms of Reeve, who probably would not be touching him with a two foot stick, less Vincent lash out again. He sorely regretted overreacting.

Ah, well. This wasn't Reeve--this was Cid! And he highly doubted Cid would go and confess his love and kiss him. Less he have to revaluate how well he knew his friends.

"I could say the same for you," he finally replied, crossing his arms over his chest.

"'the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Cid asked, his manner the same rough one as always, but ruined slightly by the grin still affixed to his face. "Like hell would my ass still be in bed! This isn't just any boy-scout mission - this is for my ship!"

To Cid, if anything was for one of his ships, nothing was really too much trouble, especially not something as measly as getting up a little early. He trusted Vincent knew that well enough, with his memories back.

But enough of that silly shit. Now it was time to get a start on some of this business.

"Where do you want to start?" he asked, turning an eye to the city. "Haven't been down in that damn place at all since I got here."

Vincent snorted, but did not respond to Cid during the first half of his talk. Indeed, he knew the lengths Cid would go to for his ship--waking up early was no chore. He shook his head at Cid's quesiton, however, shrugging with one shoulder.

"I have not been in the city, either," he murmured. "We seem to be at some disadvantage."

"Well, damn." but Cid still grinned. If they didn't know the city, it just meant things would take a little longer, right? Besides, didn't most shops...

"Most shops that are similar end up in either the same, or the opposite areas a anyway, right? So all our asses have to do is find one, and we'll have pretty much find any others too."

It sounded reasonable enough to Cid, anyway.

"Come on, Vince. No backing out now."

Clapping his friend on the shoulder, the pilot began walking down the road that lead into the small sea of buildings. He didn't give a backwards glance, trusting that Vincent would follow him eventually, but instead was taking in the sight of all the approaching shops and roads. There was talk among some people on the journals of their losses being taken back. There didn't seem much point in that to Cid, but on the off chance that it did happen, he wanted to be able to come into town again. Finding his way around now would help.

Reaching a fork in the way, Cid stopped.

"Left or Right?" he asked.
