The eternally optimistic part of Drizzt assured him that dinner could not possibly go as badly as lunch had. The Captain was akin to Kaylee's father, after all; a man who cared about her and wished only for the best for her. The smaller, more pessimistic part of him urged him to take his scimitars along. Just in case.

"I will come with you," Drizzt replied, without pausing to think about it. "You have done a great deal today, and put up with even more. I would like to help you prepare for this meal."

Casting one last surreptitious glance at the wardrobe in which he had placed his swords, Drizzt walked over to her.

"Though perhaps I would not be remiss in bringing Guenhwyvar along for this encounter."

Civilized. Mal told himself he had every intention of being civilized for this event. He could be it when he wanted to, he wasn't like Jayne who thought first with guns.

Nevermind this was a meal about meeting Kaylee's boyfriend who he had not heard a peep from and she was apparently living with. Having to hear nothing from the guy himself made him already a bit low on Mal's expectations and-

Civilized, Mal. Just have a peaceful meal and size up what kind of man this Drizzt it was. No fights had to break out. Surely Kaylee had better tastes than to pick someone not worth breath of life.

Even so, it didn't stop Mal from slipping one of his better guns into the holister attached to his belt. Just a precaution for this castle, he swore to himself.

A sigh, might as well this over with. Least he was getting a real home cooked meal out of this, he could focus on the benefit of that. He pulled open the door of the room he was staying in and started to head down to the destinated meeting place.

Civilized. He could do it.

Kaylee only had to think for all of a few seconds before she nodded her agreement to Drizzt wanting to bring Guenhwyvar with them. Two giant cats as violence control was definitely better than one ( ... )

Chopping vegetables was something Drizzt could definitely do. He may not have been a cook on par with someof the tavern owners in Silverymoon, but he had spent enough time on the road making his own meals to know how to cook and season them properly. That Paradisa and Toril had different types of vegetables was only a minor inconvenience. He had spent some time reading over the books of food he had found in the library and had learned a lot from the foods that he had eaten with Kaylee ( ... )

Reaching the first floor, he strolled towards the direction of the kitchen. Mal had been here awhile, he had gotten used to the layout of the place. Hated it for not being Serenity, but that was something he didn't have control over (another thing he hated if he thought long about it...which not today cause he was suppose to remain civilzed).

It wasn't long before he made it to the kitchen. Kitchen full of real food he was thought was a small plus. Ghosts were weird, but he had gotten to the point he didn't notice them anymore.

...But he did notice the giant panther ripping apart the contents of something or other. And he let out some wisely chosen language in Chinese to show this. And by wisely chosen, he meant that it fortunate no mothers were around that could speak Chinese to hear.
