Renji paused, the frames of his glasses held in one hand, and his brow knitted together thoughtfully. Sighing quietly, he slid them down, and turned his gaze on Watanuki.
The angel, all of a sudden, felt sick to his stomach.
There it was, the black cloud that signaled a tainted soul. His brows knit together, his expression becoming conflicted. Well... at least he knew now.
The change in the atmosphere was sudden. Watanuki looked up to see Renji's conlicted expression underneath the shades.
"Renji... Is there something wrong?"
He didn't want to see that expression. Something about it hurt, and he could tell that something wasn't right with the angel. The last thing Watanuki wanted was to see theses expressions on the faces of the people he cares about.
Pulling off the glasses, Renji folded them up and tucked them away inside his vest, trying to school his features into something that wasn't a frown. Not used to faking it, he just barely managed a weak, awkward smile.
Mismatched eyes narrowed. While the smog wasn't nearly as bad as a chronic liar, it was still faintly there. Why would Renji lie?
"I'm sorry, maybe coming up here wasn't the best decision on my part. You seem okay..."
Watanuki smiled warmly. That was what any April's Fool was suppose to do right? Smile and laugh. He didn't want to involve people in his problem anymore. He stood from where he was sitting and started towards the door.
"So, I guess I'll just head back to my room~ See you, Renji."
Renji scowled a little at that. The angel wanted to protest, but if Watanuki wanted to leave, he couldn't really stop him. Had he done something to offend the teen? Was his own discomfort that visible? Gah, he really did suck at this.
He opened his mouth to say something, but cut himself off and instead shook his head as if to clear it.
"If that's what you want." he said after a moment, pushing his hair up out of his face with a small frown.
