A sudden burst of flame engulfed the most immediate of the Ganados that had been surrounding Kaien. In their wake, their stood a rather short, broad shouldered, portly man. Intially one might think he was merely an elder gentleman, who had rather gone to seed--but on a closer inspection, the experience and poise of an ex-general shone through the rotund figure and grey hair. He walked towards his new aquaintence with a smile that seemed mildly inappropriate for their current situation.

"Kaien I presume? I must say--I'm quite impressed with your bending. Not to mention your weapon. What on earth is it called?"

He was interrupted by a sudden scream in spanish, and without so much as blinking, he extend his right arm in what would have been only a punch, if not for the fire that continued beyond his intial reach. He shook his head with a chuckle.

"I wish I could have met you under more auspicious circumstances. I fear these Ganados won't give me enough time to admire you skills."

Kaien was never more relieved to see fire in his life. It was a slight reminder of home, as well, seeing as Yamamoto-taichou could also control flames. He briefly wondered how well these two might get along.

He gave a quiet laugh, falling back into a stance, Nejibana extended in front of him. "I'll take what I can get from meetings. Even if it could've been better, I'll still say it's nice to meet you, Iroh," he replied, glancing around at the Ganados. "And it'll be nice to fight with you. Nejibana also appreciates your compliment," he threw in, talking about the trident-like weapon he held in his hands.

"But let's get to taking out the trash, mm?" Kaien asked, flashing Iroh a grin over his shoulder. A Ganados gave a yell and a crowd charged towards the two. Kaien stretched Nejibana out before him and began to swing it in circles before him with one hand, a cyclone of water forming and shooting out to slam his portion of Ganados towards the wall.

At least it'd be a bit more fun, now that he had back up in the older fire bender.

"Nejibana?" He smiled--amused at the idea of naming one's weapon. Still, with a weapon as unique as this one appeared to be, perhaps there was sense to it.

"Yes--it's time to make sure my skills haven't gotten rusty in my old age." He chuckled, and moved to Kaien's side. His knees bent, and his left leg slid back --right arm extending to a finger point. He glanced at the dripping Ganados, and smiled suddenly.

"How convenient, that water coducts electricity." His finger crackled ominously for a moment before a thin stream of blue lightning shot from it, quickly spreading and electrocuting all of the wet Ganados. "I always had my suspicions that fighting on the same side as waterbender would be quite interesting."

Kaien blinked in surprise at the lightning, turning to look at Iroh. "You can bend lightning too? That's crazy!" Two elements in one? Honestly, it put the Shiba in awe of Iroh. Very few Shinigami had elemental zanpakutous, and if they did they could only control one element with it.

He didn't let his surprise distract him for long though, flipping Nejibana and stabbing it out behind him, catching a Ganados deep in the stomach. Ignoring its screams of pain he put his force into shoving the Ganados back into its approaching comrades, freeing the trident afterwards with a twist.

"I can already tell it'll be interesting to fight with you!" Kaien said cheerfully, glad for a comrade who could both be serious about his battles, as well as talk casually during them as well.
