Who: Speed, Leon What: Speed's interview for CPVC When: The day after Speed's 3rd journal entry, noon (I am sooo late, oops) Where: Library Rating: PG I would think
Leon glanced briefly at the clock as he thumbed through a book, straightening from his position of leaning against one of the walls when he saw the time. He placed the book back in one of the shelves of the library before heading towards the entrance--figuring he'd meet the guy outside the library itself, but paused as he saw a guy in a suit.
His lips twitched, and he placed a hand on his hip as he shifted weight on his legs. "Tim Speedle?"
At least the guy wasn't a fast talker. Leon hadn't really known what to expect, but so far so good. He snorted softly at the sir, glancing at the hand and giving a brief nod instead. "Follow me," he uttered, using his other hand to beckon Tim to follow him as he turned and headed towards the back of the Library, where the CPVC offices were held.
He opened one of the doors for the other man. "Have a seat."
Speed narrowed his eyes at Leon's back as he followed the other man. Hearing the reaction to the 'sir,' the CSI looked more closely at Leon. He noted that the other man was in fact probably younger than himself. He decided to drop the formality down a notch.
He walked through the opened door and looked around the office looking area. He glanced down at a chair, back at Leon, then arranged the chair to his personal liking before actually sitting down. He waited patiently.
Leon shut the door behind them before padding to the desk, opening the journal that lay upon it so it would transcribe the interview. It was almost routine now--open the door, tell them to sit, open the journal, sit down, then ask:
Speed frowned ever-so-slightly at the question. He always hated questions like that--the kind that were so vague you never knew where to start. There was a fine line of telling too much information and not enough; plus each individual interviewer preferred a different amount of information. It was a hard tightrope to walk.
"All right," Speedle finally answered, taking his time with thinking it through. "I am, or was back in my world, a CSI for the Miami-Dade, Florida, police department. My specialty is trace and impressions evidence. I have a Bachelor's in Science--Biology--from Columbia University." He paused, took a breath.
"Most of this... is useless to you, isn't it? I mean the names. You're not from my world, I'm guessing, and those names mean nothing." He shook his head. "Well, the education and everything is real." He shrugged. "Anything else?"
"I might not know the names," Leon replied in turn. "But I know jobs and capability." Of course, the previous interview with Calleigh and Olivia had filled him in as well.
"Tell me more about your job--your specialty. What are your experiences with it? Investigating homicides, must be something else," he then said, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back into his seat.
Speed nodding his head in understanding. He glanced around idly as he tried to think of something to say in answer. He re-settled a bit in his chair. "Well, if you know what Calleigh's been through then you pretty much know what I've been through. True enough, our specific specialties are different, but not much else is."
He paused for a moment, and then actually attempted to answer the question. "Trace--small pieces of evidence usually, things that need to be run through the MassSpec of otherwise figure out what it is. Anything that isn't a murder weapon or human biological pretty much. Impressions--things like tire marks, death masks, embedded logos, or other such stuff along the same lines. It's a long list really."
Well, that made things a little easier for Leon. If Tim and Calleigh had worked together previously, then he knew what to expect--and if Tim had been a good partner, there was nothing wrong with sticking the two together as a team.
"So you work like a detective?" Leon questioned. "I don't know if we have the technology here for you to do what you did back in your world to the T, but can you still figure out clues without it?"
"Yea, I can do detective work," Speedle answered. "It'll be harder to pin suspects to the crime without certain evidence backing it up, but it's possible and I can do it. Besides, the system here probably works different--what this group decides is it, right?" He shrugged. "I can do it, no problem."
