I know I am, it's one of my favorite times of the year! ... I put up this filter because I'm gonna collect all the letters you guys want to send to Santa Claus, and make sure they get to the post office

Oh! Yanno, I keep forgetting some kids might not know! He's really great - he's a sort of wizard, I guess you could say. He lives up on the North Pole, on Earth, where it's really cold, and no one ever goes, so he can keep all his Christmas magic a secret. All year, he and his staff of elves work to make toys and games, and then each December, he gets letters from all the good boys and girls who tell them what they want for Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, the elves help him load all the stuff into his sled, and his magic flying reindeer help him carry it all over the world and deliver it to the kids while they're asleep... so on Christmas morning, they wake up to presents from Santa Claus.

Anything that can be made! ... And sometimes he can bring pets, too, like a puppy or a cat.

Oh, hey, Kaylee! [there's tinsel stuck in his hair. he ... totally doesn't realize this] I'm just decorating my door. I put up a mailbox for Santa, for the kids, too - see?

[and Blue will abandon his stuffed squirrel and haul his bones up off the floor to come over and sniff at Kaylee's overalls]

[laughing, she'll reach up to pull a strand of tinsel free before pushing it into her pocket and patting Blue's head]

You think kids are gonna be writin' to Santa a lot in a castle that goes and grants wishes?

[the tinsel-picking takes him by surprise, but he recovers well] I dunno, I think so. I mean, it's part of home for some of them, yeah? A tradition they can still have here, even without their families. I know if ten year old me was here, he'd be missing his family like crazy... and a little something from Santa might help a little.

Santa Claws? Why does he want letters from people he doesn't know?

Oh, because, Nepeta: all the good boys and girls write him letters telling him what they want for Christmas, and he delivers it to them on Christmas Eve while they're asleep. He's been doing it for years.

Really? How does he do it?

Oh, it's Christmas magic! He has flying reindeer that help take him everywhere in time, and elves that help him make and find all the presents.

Oh! Well, it doesn't mean you can't still write him a letter. I bet we've got enough kids from Earth that he'll show up...
