Advent... Isn't that where you have the calendar with candy every day until Christmas?

That's the one. You light candles on Advent wreaths instead, though. There's not as much chocolate.

But wouldn't the wreaths catch on fire?

The candles are pretty tall.

Ah Advent, another tradition ruined by commercialization and excessive amounts of chocolate.

Seems to be a theme.

Holiday pancakes? [MIGHT AS WELL ASK, RIGHT?]

Yeah, they used to do this thing where they make special pancakes for the holidays. Gingerbread and eggnog, things like that.

One of the things I miss about America the most, their holiday-themed pancakes. That and hot dogs.

This is some kind of winter solstice tradition? [Cause hey, he knows what a wreath is and when they make them]

Christmas. But it's kind of the same thing.

Mmmmm...

Why does the wreath have to be blessed? Is it part of a ritual?

Reply

hellshaped November 30 2011, 07:57:48 UTC
If you like. The wreath's kind of like a countdown to Christmas, so typically it's blessed by a priest.

I can make some for you, if you want.

The pancakes part. [QUICK, HB! Get her while she still is a wonderful chef!]

[YES ... ACCEPTABLE ...]

But do you have red and green sprinkles is the million dollar question.

I... think so.

Last year there were a lot of Christmas cookies that got made. I think I stopped Eliot before he got too carried away.

I think that'll suit us just fine. Any of that stuff still around?
