Waking Up

Then there's a quiet hum -- that warm, wakeful sound that always seems to come out of a body after a good bit of sleep. It elongates as Fred does the same, stretching out and then curling to one ( Read more... )

[And that? Is the sound of something being smothered]

I'd dare you to say that to his face, but you probably already have.

[There's a pause]

Would you like to take a walk?

Sure. Do you want me to stop by or meet in the lobby?

How about the lobby? I can be there in ten minutes.

Same for me. See you then. [She shuts the journal and heads off!]

[She's already down in the lobby, hands tucked in the pockets of her jeans while she waits on her friend]

[Elektra smiles her as she approaches.] It's good to see you up and about again. The Sleeping Beauty routine doesn't suit you.

[Fred laughs, but she doesn't move to hug Elektra. She still suspects the other woman wouldn't be entirely sure what to do with it]

Let's not go and make a fairly tale of it.

[She suspects correctly.] A woman asleep in a castle tower for a long stretch of time...

I think it makes a fairy tale out of itself.

Except for the ending.

[She wasn't certain why she was so set on challenging the idea]

Nobody woke me up with a kiss. I just sort've rolled over and stretched...

And where's the villain?

The villain has been hiding. [Elektra grins.] Can you blame them? Between Wesley and Gunn they probably had a little too much to contend with.

[At that Fred can't help but smile]

Did you meet Charles? [Her cheeks color, as Fred finally recalls something] And...you saw Wesley again didn't you. Of course you did. Was it the first time since.... [she hoped he'd forgiven her that one] since Caritas?

Yes. I actually met him before this when he decided the lobby was a good place to meditate.

[Elektra studies her a moment before shaking her head. She knows what the other woman is thinking from the reddening.]

Same with Wesley. I almost forgot about that night at Caritas. It was very... enlightening. Don't you think?

[She smiles at the initial meeting of Elektra and Charles. That's at least until her friend prods a bit more, bringing her color even higher]

I suppose that all depends on what your definition of enlightening is...

I'd say that entire night fits the definition. [Elektra laughs.] And you're a lot bolder than people give you credit for.

[Says the lady who would have been making out with Green Arrow if there wasn't a pink pony there.]

Yes, well, I'm obviously not as bold as I couldbe. [Drunkin chats being referenced now] Not a lot's changed still. Of course, I was asleep. That's a bit awkward.
