[The deeper inside the city she goes, the more Amelia is struck with fascination and horror alike. The sheer amount of plants and wildlife is astonishing, nearly as much as the ocean itself. But Amelia also recognizes the ruins for what they are, places where people once lived--and where they'd died.

She largely sticks to the trail, but sometimes she'll wander off into a building if it looks stable enough. There's the slight chance she can find something useful if she's lucky, and at this point? Something definitely owes her a favor.]

Hey!

Hey...miss! I wouldn't do that if I were you. [someone has noticed her wandering and does not approve.]

[Well stranger, guess who doesn't care if someone doesn't approve?]

I'm fine.

Yeah, until you wake up some freaky, horror story creation and set it down on all of us. How about we stick to the path?

[Seriously?]

You really believe that.

With the things I've seen this place pull? Yes. Yes I do.

[...]

Fine. [If only because Amelia can't argue against it. She's back on the path.] Happy?

Thrilled.

[looking her over. There's nothing predatory about the look. He's merely taking in how comfortably she wears the gun and her side and her confidence in rough terrain]

You had fighting experience before?

[Predatory or not, Amelia still doesn't care for it.]

Yes. It'd be really stupid to go off the path if I didn't.

Yeah, well, it's stupid anyway until we know what we're looking at. At least alone.

[...Amelia's taking that the wrong way, just so you know.]

I can handle myself fine even without some man around.

Woah, hey! That's got nothing to do with it. Some of the finest soldiers I know are women. [a bit of a smirk] I know a few who could kick my ass.

[not easily...but still.

His expression immediately goes back to the serious soldier though] I don't care how well you can handle yourself. Wandering off into potentially enemy territory without a scout or backup is a suicide mission.

[Damn. It's no fun if he uses common sense.

But it does get Amelia's attention, and she looks back toward the building.]

Things around here really get that bad?

Around here? No idea. And I'd rather not find out.

[offering his hand as she comes back to the main path] Special Agent Seeley Booth, FBI.

I meant in general. Paradisa.

[Amelia notably doesn't take the hand. It's nothing personal, Booth.]

Is that mouthful supposed to be your name? Should I just call you Effbeaye?

[he drops the hand quickly enough, not exactly surprised after her initial reaction to him calling her back.

Her response gets a groan, though] Why has no one ever heard of the FBI? [Damn castle]

It's my job. I'm... a detective, if you want to be simple about it.

You can call me Booth.
