001 - Pedal to the floor, my life is moving faster

Mar 13, 2011 21:43

[sometime that evening, the oh-so-familiar vworp vworping will sound just on the outskirts of the town. For a an hour or two more, everything is quiet until, finally, a familiar voice will broadcast itself over the journals]

Fascinating! Absolutely fascinating. Everything I say, you’re storing it away, just so.

Ah! Hallo. Really, the sound quality on this is quite impressive.

Honestly, it's a bit disappointing. The shop...not the book. The book is brilliant.

[Oh, that's good. It's really quite nice when her scary-ass echo is broadcasted with complete and utter clarity! It really makes for the best spookyteims. >O]

Magic is magic, I suppose. [A beat.] What is this shop you speak of?

[Paradisa the horror flick. Now in surround sound]

[she can't see it, but she can practically hear the face he makes at that] Ugh...Magic. Not that I've got anything against magicians. Houdini was fantastic. I saw every one of his shows, you know. [a pause] Some of them twice. Some things just never grow old.

But this... this is something else entirely, isn't it? This bit about a magic castle, well, we just haven't looked hard enough to figure out what's really going on, have we?

[a pause] Oh, not any one in particular, seeing as no one's gone and built it, far as I can tell. But really, a place like this? Nexus of worlds all colliding together? One could really use a little shop in the lobby. Way to say hello, yeah?

.....

A shop?

n0secondchances March 14 2011, 03:12:44 UTC
Right! A shop. One of those lovely little ones that go in the lobby and sell you all sorts of little knickknacks. You never know when you're going to need a good knickknack.

..... Those can be useful?

n0secondchances March 14 2011, 03:21:24 UTC
They certainly can! Most useful things in the universe, if you find yourself in the right spot. Never underestimate a strategically placed snowglobe, I always say!

[a beat] Well... not actually. I don't suppose I've ever really said that before. Still, it'd be quite catchy if I had, don't you think?

Hullo, there! Again...

Jenny's your... our... daughter... of sorts.

[lightbulb]
Wait... you don't remember? Where in the timeline are you?

Well now... you're an unfamiliar voice. Of course, they say recordings and things always sound different outside your own head, but... you're new.

[he sounds much more serious here, filtered from everyone else]

I take it that must mean you're the later me.

[he'll answer the question in a moment. He's just not entirely pleased to be facing the implication of what another him means]

[sighs softly, he's gone through this with you before... and Rose... When he speaks his voice is gentle]

I am. You regenerate into me.

[there's a pause while he takes that in] That does leave all sorts of questions to ask doesn't it. [none of which he's particularly rushed to get to]

Still, I do believe you asked one of me first.

Donna and I just left the Library. Bit of a rough time, that. I was thinking of taking her somewhere a bit less on the shadowy side, all things considered. 'Cept here I am... and here she's not.

Cockatoo Boy!

....That's a rather unorthodox sort of greeting, don't you think?

I'm an unorthodox sort of bloke.

And that's your name. Get used to it, it's all I'll address you as.

[dryly] I think you've gone and mixed me with someone else then, since I've been called a lot of things, but I think I'd remember answering to something like that.

Oh, you again.

That didn't take long...

[he's going to TRY to sound grumpy. just for the sake of things. appearances must be kept up, being the youngest and all]

You! [his voice is considerably more cheerful than it was when addressing his Eleventh self. After all, he always did like being you.]

or, me, rather! This is a rather strange turn of events.

And yes, I read something to that effect. You know me. Us. We. Here and there. Wibbly, wobbly, etc, etc.

Yes, it's a pocket dimension, but you already know that, I'm sure. Is there anything else obvious that you'd care to state, for the record?

n0secondchances March 14 2011, 04:17:43 UTC
Pears. Absolutely disgusting things, Pears. Any luck they haven't made it into this particular dimension?

[well, you asked for obvious]

[Doctor]

[As the filter goes up, his light tone becomes more serious.] So, then. Aside from me coming and going faster than a jack-in-the-box on Christmas, what do I need to know?
