[Do you miss the dapper, cheerful voice dictating through the journals? Well, here it is again! Let's listen in, shall we?]Well, if the decorations are any indication, it seems as though Valentine's Day is upon us! Yes, I know there have been many whispers in the weeks leading up to this day mentioning this holiday, but I would like to extend this ( Read more... )

Oh oh oh! I have a question!

Go for it!

Okay.

What do you give someone you like but you don't like like them, you just like them, and they probably don't know you're getting them anything but you want to so it'll surprise them, but you don't want to give them flowers because they're a man, and you don't want to give them chocolate because they're dead?

[That might have been two different questions for two different gift ideas for two different people, but it all sort of mashed together anyway.]

Well, considering it's Valentine's Day? There are always cards to send!

I've read a little about the holiday, but I didn't realize it was so pink.

Well, the color pink does symbolize love where I come from. Love is flaunted every which way on Valentine's Day, as are the decorations.

[Ah...] Many institutions do go a bit overboard, however.

So--it's only for people who love each other? And the candies mean that you are in love?

chimesin February 14 2011, 04:44:20 UTC
It's a holiday that was loosely based off a love story, actually. Well, a story of laws broken leading up to something of a love story, but not many people seem to focus on the origins.

The holiday itself emphasizes love in a relationship, but it is not restricted to lovers. A lot of people just give gifts to their friends-- candies just seem to be the most popular gift! Really, this is a time for everyone

What's American Valentine's like?

Reply

chimesin February 14 2011, 04:28:05 UTC
Well, many people celebrate if differently...

But the general idea is to spend time with that "special someone", giving them the attention and admiration they deserve. This pretty much means giving them a gift as well as your time-- if you're both available for it, of course! If not, you make time!

For those who are without a partner, romantic or otherwise, small gifts are usually given out, like cards or shared candy... Fun stuff!

Everything is decorated in pink and red, and we all try to put the emphasis on "love".

Oh... It's a bit different than that in Japan. Mostly it's just girls giving out chocolate.

Will you be celebrating or avoiding?

The person I typically spend Valentine's Day with is not at the castle, but... I will not prevent myself from giving in to the holiday cheer!

It seems like a high-maintenance day.

It really can be, if you're popular.

[Thinking about all those days she spent in high school, oh goodness...]

But then again, a lot of people do tend to brush it off.

This is perfect! I've been meanin' ta ask a woman for advice, concerning this holiday.

Though, I'd really appreciate it if we could discuss this in person, if ya don't mind.

I don't mind, really. I'm always here for advice!

[She's friendly, she's awesome, she obliges!] Where shall I meet you?

[Wait until he finds out she's a vampire. He's a huge movie buff and all his knowledge on vampires is based off of Dracula. And Dracula is ugly.]

Thank you kindly. I'd prefer to save introductions for in-person meetings, but since you've already given me your name, I might as well give you mine. I'm known as Claire Stanfield to most, so you can call me Claire. It's a pleasure, Miss Cullen.

The kitchen should be fine! You much of a coffee drinker?

Claire; dictated chimesin February 14 2011, 05:11:31 UTC
A pleasure in turn, Claire.

[Yes! You know how those Cullens roll, man. Breaking the vampire standards left and right!]

To be honest, I am not. I... really am not thirsty at the moment, but I do appreciate the offer! I'll be in the kitchen shortly.

[Going to be using that super speed pretty quick~]
