Blah blah, people disappearing, blah blah -- [ abrupt halt, you can practically hear her rolling her eyes. ] Yeah, don't care. Moving on.

Here's a fun question: say the castle takes an object from you. Any guesses on secret trapdoors or locked basements where it might stash it? And you can save your sarcastic quips about everyone grabbing ( Read more... )

[she considers passing this over...but...]

Honestly, the most likely place is the Insolitus. I don't think anyone's been able to properly explore it.

Insolitus. That's the eleventh floor, right? [ Look she's ... done a lot of wandering. It's a hobby. ] The hell's in there, anyway? And why hasn't anyone been able to get a good look?

That'd be the one. It's a maze, mostly. The further you go in, the bigger it looks.

...I haven't gone far myself. I kind of made a promise I wouldn't [without company] but from what others have stumbled across there's at least one room full of unclaimed items and a left-over monster from one of the castle's less friendly world-jumps.

And no one's thought to bring the cavalry in and try to get past it? How seriously retarded do people here have to be not to put together that you don't throw your Cerberus around unless you've got ringside seats to the gates of Hades?

[Because he can't sleep and is a cranky pants at this hour]

If the castle's taken something from you, I highly doubt you'd be able to find it unless it wants you to. I wouldn't bother trying to play the guessing game.

And here I was so certain I'd made sure to remember the "no Debbie Downers" clause in my original entry.

Oh, wait, that's right. I did. [ scoff ] I don't like repeating myself.

Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

Don't worry. When this Insolitus lead turns up gold, you'll be the first one I brag to.

There's that super secret passage between the conservatory and the lounge.

Gotta say, the "super secret passage" part makes me wonder how serious you're being.

That depends on how seriously you take the good Colonel Condiment and his dark use of a candlestick.

Gee, I'll be sure to keep it in mind for the next murder mystery that crops up.

Why would it bother keeping it if it can make whatever it wants?

And if it did, there's no way it'd be anywhere near the castle. It'd probably be out in the middle of nowhere, a months long journey out into the Dead Zone.

When I want to philosophize on the reasons the castle steals shit, I'll be sure and call you up. Until then, get useful or get moving.

Guess you're not going to hear about anything good.

I'm not going on a month long pilgrimage on the off chance that you think it might be there.

I'd be careful there, sweetie. You wouldn't want the castle to drop you in any mysterious trap doors.

Boy, I am way over my quota of concerned citizens today.

Just making sure you're aware. The castle does not-so-nice things to people that stick their noses in it's business. Considering you don't sound like you've been here long, I wouldn't want you to fall prey to the castle's ... more malicious tendencies.

Malicious tendencies are my specialty. Who knows, maybe it'll make me feel more at home. Trap doors are definitely a step up from the honeymoon suite and the fruit basket.
