[There's a huff as the kender pulls his journal fully out of his pouch to address it]

Anybody planning on going out of the castle again and need a scout? Or do you need something found? I'm pretty good at finding things. Why, there was this

Hey, so... just how good are you at scouting?

[everborrowing]

[perking up] Really good. One of the best, really, if I say so myself. Which I guess I do, since Tanis isn't here, even though he'd really be the one who could tell you.

I've been thinking of exploring the maze in the castle and could really use a good scout on the team so we don't get lost.

[everborrowing]

Oh! That maze is on my floor! I went in there for a week and I got pretty far, I think, but I couldn't keep a map because the castle seems to have taken all mine away from me... which can make things pretty difficult, but it doesn't keep me from being able to look ahead and see what else is out there... especially since I think there's a monster in there, which we might want to avoid if we do go down.

[she's headed back to her room, and... what. is that a child, picking the lock of her room? pause. frown. no. it's totally not. cue a sharp tone!]

What're you doing?

[everborrowing]

[a blink] Hmmmm?

[looking up, there's a sudden grin as he sees her] Oh! Hello. Wow.... that's an interesting outfit...

[she stops just a couple feet away, arms folding over her chest.]

Answer the question, spud.

The question? Oh! The question.

I was just testing the locks. [that indignant disgust coming back] You won't believe how shoddy the work is on these. It's like they weren't even trying at all when they were put in. I mean, they're not the worst I've seen. There was this one time, when we were in this little village just outside of Solace and everyone else was in the other room talking and it had gotten a little boring, so I just wanted to take a look around and see what was in the back... because you know people always keep the most interesting things in the back rooms-

[He's on the way back to his room, but he stops when he spots a certain kender.]

What the hell do you think you're doing?

[everborrowing]

[pausing, he'll look up at Jin, blinking for a second before his grin spreads from ear to ear] Oh, hello!

[Unfortunately, Jin doesn't exactly appreciate that smile. He's returning the look with a glare, before he raises his arm above his head; in a flurry of snowflakes, his sheathed sword appears in his hand, twirling it and lowering his arm and sword behind him.]

I didn't greet you, worm. It would be in your best interest to answer me.

[everborrowing]

[lockpick tools disappear almost instantaneously, tucked away into one of Tas's many pouches as he turns to face Jin. He's still smiling, staring up at the sword in genuine fascination, but he reaches for the hoopak he leaned up against the wall... just in case] Was that... snow? Did that come from your sword? Does that happen every time or did you just do that on purpose?

Oh... right... question. What did you want to know again?

[Tas... Tas... please don't be opening the bedroom door while she's in bed.

It's locked for a reason!

Oh.... Oh wait... too late.]

Well, hello, are you lost?

[everborrowing]

[he'd been about to move on, but company was too good to pass up. He'll pause in the doorway, looking confused for a moment before the question registers and he smiles] Hmmm? Lost? Oh, no. I'm never lost. Not really. I mean, half of the best adventures are from being lost and, once you find out where you are, then you're in a new place and not lost at all!

[That gets a soft laugh, what a curious and cheerful individual.]

That's certainly a unique way of thinking.

[everborrowing]

[a grin] Thank you, miss... though I don't know if it's really unique, since that's pretty much the kender way. It's what we do, you see.

Only, I guess I'm the only one here, so maybe it is unique, seeing as there's no one else here to think the same way.

[Luckily, Carl is sleeping. But if he unlocks the door to his room, he'll see an automaton. Directly staring at him.]

[everborrowing]

[huh... now that's strange. He'll just have to come in to look at it. Just to look, mind you. He'll circle around the automaton, curious]

[It's just standing there, unresponsive. Wait...did it just move its arm a bit? Must've been a trick of the light.]

[he'll lightly tap the arm, looking for buttons or something else, wondering if it's just a statue.... and, if it is, why it's standing in the doorway?]
