006 Locks Picked

Jul 11, 2010 18:15

[The journal picks up a quiet click, followed by a small disgusted sound]

Really, these aren't any fun at all.

[There's a huff as the kender pulls his journal fully out of his pouch to address it]

Anybody planning on going out of the castle again and need a scout? Or do you need something found? I'm pretty good at finding things. Why, there was this ( Read more... )

[He's on the way back to his room, but he stops when he spots a certain kender.]

What the hell do you think you're doing?

[pausing, he'll look up at Jin, blinking for a second before his grin spreads from ear to ear] Oh, hello!

[Unfortunately, Jin doesn't exactly appreciate that smile. He's returning the look with a glare, before he raises his arm above his head; in a flurry of snowflakes, his sheathed sword appears in his hand, twirling it and lowering his arm and sword behind him.]

I didn't greet you, worm. It would be in your best interest to answer me.

[lockpick tools disappear almost instantaneously, tucked away into one of Tas's many pouches as he turns to face Jin. He's still smiling, staring up at the sword in genuine fascination, but he reaches for the hoopak he leaned up against the wall... just in case] Was that... snow? Did that come from your sword? Does that happen every time or did you just do that on purpose?

Oh... right... question. What did you want to know again?

[Jin's eyes would further narrow, reaching his other arm around and gripping his hand around the hilt of his sword.]

If you test my patience any further, then you'll face what Yukianesa is capable of firsthand.

Now, what the hell were you doing?

You know, that really is an interesting offer... I'd love to see it. Maybe not on me, though. These things have a way of going wrong... like when Caramon taught Tika how to hold a sword, really... you'd be better off being her enemy, because you never knew where that sword was going to go. And while that would be a real experience, sword wounds really aren't all that fun, even if they do make it snow.

[lightly balancing on the balls of his feet, his smile will have dimmed, but he still seems completely at ease]

I was just testing the locks. Really, you'd be amazed at how terrible all these are. It's a disgrace.

I didn't ask.

[He was clearly losing his patience, his hand moving to draw Yukianesa only slightly, enough to see the blade of ice.]

Perhaps you should go test someone else's lock and get out of my way.

[that was a fascinating blade, and Tas definitely made a note to ask about it. Later. When said blade might not be tested on him]

Of course.... really, there's so many of these. The castle really should put better ones on the doors. [moving to slip past Jin and head to the next door down the hall. He seems pretty casual, but Jin will find out just how fast he really is if he tries to grab or hit him]

[He'll eye Tas carefully as he goes by, the whole time looking poised and ready to strike at any moment, but he remains still. Before long, the blade is fully sheathed again.]

Then maybe you should have the castle do something about it. [This was spoken in an almost sarcastic tone, since his belief in the 'magic' castle was still very little.]

[he's still watching Jin carefully, though he mostly seems to be considering the suggestion] You think it would? I mean, I've tried wishing for objects before, but I've never tried changing one thing into something else. That seems more like something Raistlin would do, only he'd probably just put a spell on his door instead of another lock.
