One would be much more powerful without hobbies, I presume. But by far more dangerous. There would be no outlet for any pent up aggressions, nothing genuinely enjoyable in their spare time ... it would lead to ill use of power, I assume.

I would choose it, though. I do not like staying in one place.

I doubt there is a surmountable way to effectively reach the top -- these things do not end, I feel. And if so, then destruction would be needed, deliberately, to be able to reach the top again in a new and innovative way.
