It seems rather superfluous, since the journal serves a generally similar purpose already.

Not really. Newspapers are a pretty unique reading medium. The journal's more like a live news feed, than anything else. And it's noisy.

Newspapers are a lot more quiet, and they let the reader digest them at their own pace.

... How've you been, Shizuru?

True. Sometimes I wish the journal had a mute button, then my attention wouldn't get attracted all the time by unimportant things.

Been doing fairly well, except I somehow managed to defy conventions of nature and make a stranger pregnant. [dry laugh]

I tend to keep mine closed as much as possible for that exact reason.

... Wait ... you ... you what. [let him 'WTF' over this for a second] Please tell me it was some kind of loss.

Misa thinks you sound like the reader type, ah ha.

[fffffff, let's say the town has one but not the castle? :P COMPROMISE!]

Ha, from time to time. It'd be nice if there were actually plays in that sorry excuse for a theatre district, too.

[Perfect!]

With half the town all zombie?! Misa could put on a play... I was a movie actress, but I wonder if I could do stage, too.

I don't see why you couldn't. The only difference is, if you mess up, you don't get another take, right?

Is a newspaper exactly what it sounds like?

Reply

balancethebooks April 16 2010, 04:45:13 UTC
Pretty much. Quieter than these journals, and not as idiotic about it, either.

I ... met someone from your future, the other day. Same name, too.

Sounds boring.

[oh, great] Which one?

Wasn't one guy asking about a castle newspaper, a couple months back? Not sure if that went anywhere, though.

Anyway, I guess there're just local events to cover in newspapers around here.

If he did, I missed it, I think.

Maybe so. It's just ... a little weird to have an old routine taken completely away, you know?

I don't think we've spoken before ... I'm Emerson.

Yeah, makes sense. Well, who's to say you can't have it here, even if it's on a smaller, castle-and-city scale?

Want me to try finding that page again? I'm Lavi, by the way.

You don't have to if it's too much trouble. It'll give me something to read, anyway. Heh...

Nice to meet you, Lavi.

[technically, only Eliot and Del are on the loss - Jo is perfectly capable of being an amazing bartender at the moment]

Get you another glass?

[didn't know who else was on the staff besides those two, so. :P]

Uh ... [looks to see that he's got a few sips left]

Maybe in a little while? I have a two-glass limit.

[there aren't that many... there's a wiki page though?

She'll nod and wipe down the bar, since - she's bored]

Just let me know, I'll be here 'til closing.
