The thing is, though, if a bunch of people had jumped in defending the OP, because yeah, all those female characters fully suck, you would have lambasted them all just to be contrary.

Look, I know as well as you do that I'm a dramawhore, but that doesn't mean I'm not picky! I wait until something good comes along to be contrary about.

I actually can't imagine a situation in which everyone jumped in defending the OP, so I can't say if you're right or not, but I will have you know that I have passed up plenty of opportunities to be contrary recently.

Seriously though, I think the OP was being sexist and kind of want to kick him in the teeth. But I also think you have a point. I think the OP would need to clarify WHY he dislikes all of these characters before I could really have an opinion on it. If he dislikes them because they've been shortchanged, that's one thing. If it's because "omg they are so boring because they have vaginas," that's another.

I think the OP is a girl and I guess my point was that yeah, it can go either way. I guess I automatically assumed girl/shortchanged and jumped in.

Guh. The secret annoys me, it's pretty sad, and whoever made it has a ton of internalized sexism. But the reactions make it clear why it's so hard to have a decent discussion of sexism in fandom.
