So, a lot of people are still bitching about the finale. Myself included. I like to think what I'm doing is more like counter-bitching; bitching about the bitching. I'm bitter about all the people who are bitter. Does this make me hypocritical? I don't know. I think it just makes me really self-indulgent.

I won't comment on the other stuff until I've actually watched the finale, but I really, really hate when Zuko/Katara fans turn to their idea of feminism to support their pairing. Hate. Among other things, it takes the most sexist view possible of Aang/Katara, which is generally presented as a fairly equal relationship.

Also, WTF, "defied laws of feminism"? *stab stab stab*

Yes, I was.

1. You didn't make it clear, as it's applicable to both couples.

2. I loved the finale. What are you talking about?

3. The root of the problem appears to be shipping. The complaints that weren't directly about shipping had to do with being disappointed because the view of the show that you'd constructed that facilitated making your favourite couples canonical crumbled down during the finale. The only complaints that had nothing to do with shipping in some form were the complaints about Dues Ex Machina and about Aang not killing Ozai - and complaining about Aang not killing Ozai can also be tied back to into a particular way of perceiving the show that facilitates Zutara.

Also? I don't ship Kataang.

1. Katara went to prison at the end of Season 2, at which point Zuko confronted his sadistic sister, etc., etc. Either way, I misunderstood you and that doesn't change much of anything ( ... )
