So, a lot of people are still bitching about the finale. Myself included. I like to think what I'm doing is more like counter-bitching; bitching about the bitching. I'm bitter about all the people who are bitter. Does this make me hypocritical? I don't know. I think it just makes me really self-indulgent.

I understand. I'm rather new to the ways of fandom and LJ so it makes sense to be concerned about things like that. For example: OMG! I didn't think other Zutara shippers could be so batshit! It makes me ashamed of shipping them! WTF?!

Also, found your web site. And your essays.

Damn I love your insight. Do yo mind if I friend you for reading list purposes? I like seeing things that look at subcultures like fandom like you tend to write about.

There's no reason to be ashamed of your ship. Crazy happens everywhere, it just concentrates in some particular places. There's nothing wrong with Zuko/Katara as a pairing, it's just that some fans are a little... well, you know.

And yeah, LJ can be really crazy. You'll get used to it.

I know there's not, but everyone has moments when they come across someone who is so far at the extreme you become ashamed to have something in common with this person. Apparently it's a sin to ship a pairing while being completely okay with what's canon. It's daunting. Hasn't scared me off yet!

I probably will. I'm told I adapt to things easily so we'll see.
