at night the sun in retreat
made the skyline look like crooked teeth
in the mouth of a man who was devouring us both

i knew things would be like this once school started.
home. school. friends. love.
all almost a complete disappointment
save a very small group of people.
the only good thing in my life: the rain.
and even that is sporadic.
