Not sure what drivel you're referring to, but as I too voiced disappointment in the election, and thoughts of Germany, I sincerely hope it wasn't mine ... if so then I fear you pass judgement in ignorance of my motives, and I can't say I'm a big fan of that.

No the drivel was not you. However I am curious why you believe Germany would be a better place to live politically speaking than here.
The tax rate is very high, granted bundesrepublik services (the ubiquitous yellow trucks, signs, etc for those who have never been to germany) are very comprehensive. There is a strong and growing neo-conservative movement in Germany as well.
If you want to move to germany because you like the country that's one thing. My annoyance comes with those who are screeching about fleeing this nation because they think that the President is going to suddenly institute Evangelism as the national religion by Executive Order, pass the draft and develop a superlaser to be used on nations ha doesn't like from his secret mountain lair. If you don't like the political climate I can understand, I hated the Clinton era. But ranting like the end of the world is coming and running to another country rather than try to stay and effect change...well I guess I don't have much respect for that.

You said it so much better than I did. I am happy to see this well reasoned post when there seems to be so much insanity going around today. I hope all this passes soon because it is depressing.
