House vs. Home.

i have begun to think of all objects as social facilitators, or even beings. your piano is not a thing, it is the means by which you connect to the persons who appreciate it. your dishware is not ceramic, it is the object by which you make your guest smile, and when you get it out, you recall that. all things are these things.

then if you see things in a house as social parts of yourself, you as the arbiter and controller of them, and the result being the operation of the whole, the whole system becomes a physical engender of love. all things to the love of those who touch it, come in to that world, feel your expression.

thats home.

my piano is my mother
my plates are my father
my scooter my brothers joy to ride it
my pictures my daughter's happy joy
my flatware my independence and solid self awareness
my computer my friend to others

this is home for me
and my home loves me

I can totally relate to the home workspace elements--looking forward to moving into our new apartment, which will have a dedicated office space, such that there's no confusion as to whether I'm in the living room or the office.
