These two don't make happy endings very simple, do they? Neither one has an easy time getting out of their own way to make room for someone else.
Hopefully the next chapter will come together fairly quickly, although some of that will depend upon how much time I get to write; things are getting a little busier even as the pace of the story picks up. Getting close to the end now! Thanks for continuing to read- I'm so glad that you're still enjoying the story!
I'm so glad you posted -the last chapter had a sort of closure to it and I was afraid it was the end, and I wanted more. I like how you portray Al, too many writers sort of edge him out when at times, he's Ed's only reason to live. Mainly, I love the slow deconstruction of Roy. I think I am seeing hints that he has started healing at last; I am hoping there might be a happy ending after all.
Oh, no worries! We're getting closer, but I'll make sure to announce when it's at the end. I'm estimating at least four more chapters, maybe a few more than that depending on the pacing.
And I'm glad Al came out well. He's tough to write, but I certainly didn't want him to be a victim of Vanishing Al Syndrome in this story- that's just not fair! And Roy... you know, I really feel sorry for him. But there's still hope, even if it won't be easy.
Sometimes I worry about dropping little bits of humor into this story, which is otherwise so bleak. But... these two are just unintentionally funny at times! (though you should see what I had to cut... Ed is just wicked!)
Glad you liked it, and hopefully the next chapter will come along quickly. Thanks for reading!
