I finally finished Paradise Lost a few days ago. I might be the only person I know who has read it for pleasure, outside of any academic obligation. I was of course assigned parts of it in high school, but I always wanted to read anything except what I was supposed to be reading. Since then I read bits of it more, but had other things on my mind. I just saw the 300. There are some cool visuals, I guess, which impress me less and less with each new CGI-filled blockbuster. If I simply wanted to enjoy the movie as a masturbatory gorefest it would still fail to deliver, as one has to wade through tedious, uninspired exposition between the battle scenes, with people taking themselves really ( Read more... )
