payoffs

Lately I have been thinking a little about prioritizing things in my life. Prioritizing burlesque (what else-it is my only hobby) is a big and visible and comparatively easy-to-tackle issue. The balance of hassle to payoff has shifted a lot since I moved to DC.

The hassles are many: Scheduling away all my free time is now a hassle b/c I want to ( Read more... )

I'll have to throw in on the "Don't Be a Flake" side of things. I've been doing photography for a tattoo shop calendar over the last couple of months and my flake rate is running 90% or so. Nothing, and by damn I mean NOTHING is more frustrating than booking 10 girls and getting all prepped and psyched up to shoot ALL GOD DAMN DAY YO! and then sitting around till midnight because not a single one of them can even be bothered to text that they aren't going to be there.

Boils the fucking blood, you know?

Anyway, every single one of those girls is on the "Must Not Book" list and will be missing out of anything I do in the future. Given that Houston is just behind Chicago in population I realize that's an empty threat, but ahh well.

sometimes you have to take your mental health into consideration. Don't do this gig just because you feel you have to... if coming home would help you feel better about your life, come home. <3

In this particular case, I would probably also be on the "do not flake" end of the spectrum because Dr Sketchy's is a pretty well known "brand." While I don't know how well the DC chapter is run, it sort of feels well known enough that making the organizer scramble for a replacement might be generally detrimental.

Hmmm yeah... It would be worth something to add "Dr Sketchys Model" to my resume-- oh, I already have that actually. But yeah you're right.

:(

Unfortunately... this is probably a "do not flake" moment. You were the one who sold this venue on taking you in the first place, and that means you have a personal stake in it.

Will you be in town/free the next weekend - Oct 15-17?

Gonna have to go with "don't flake", even though it's obviously damn tempting to do so. Sure, $60/little exposure/hassle to get there completely sucks, and if you weren't planning to stay in Washington it'd be worth skipping...but since you are, I guess you should do it.
