I'm familiar with the other two, but had never heard of The Rabbit Back Literature Society and am now intrigued. Onto the overlong to read list it goes!

I enjoyed it tremendously while feeling that I was continually falling into pits or putting my foot under roots in the path.

I've given up saying intelligent things about books. But "I loved this because reason" I figure might signal "Try this!" to those who share the same sort of reasons.

I know I get lots of recs this way, in my net cruising.

Sherwood, seriously, while your remarks may not be up to your own standards, I don't think you could help saying intelligent things about books; it would be a positive effort for you not to at this point.

Well, I'm glad they come off okay, or that's just you being really kind. I pretty much always feel like I'm scrabbling for the keelson, so to speak.

They come off okay, at the least.

Which is not to say that simple, "I liked this for that reason" is not also a very useful observation to people looking for books to read.

*thinking good thoughts for Naomi*

The books you are reading sound most intriguing. And that interview of you was lovely and a good read to boot (always loved Jo March, myself!)

Thank you. Naomi is very notional and skittery, so she's a bit hard to treat. You can't shut her in a room with her food so the other cats won't eat it; she just won't stand for it.

I'm thinking maybe it's time to read Little Women again, though certainly parts of it just drive me nuts.

Those generally take me about five years to produce, anyway.

Same. Well, anywhere between five and twenty, depending on the book. If it really hits me where I live, I might never manage to say anything about it at all. I'm impressed by people who can review books immediately after reading them, in paragraphs and everything.

The Rabbit Back Literature Society sounds extremely interesting. I haven't bought it yet, but I might buy it soon. Or get the library to order it for me.

I hope things go a little better for Naomi.

I very much enjoyed your thumbnail review of The Voice of the Basilisk and The Tropic of Serpents (what a great title!). I've heard excellent things about this whole series, but this brief review encapsulates everything that makes it sound most appealing to me.

I hope Naomi can get with the program too! I would like for her to experience venerable old age.
