Most leaves are down here as well, but as recently as last week there were still quite a few still turning colors in a leisurely way.
It's always nice when you get that moment of "What's that annoying cloud/haze/otherwise atmospheric object obscuring the stars? ...Oh wait, that's the Milky Way. It is the stars."
Aw, thanks. Yes, I keep having that moment even though I know what the Milky Way looks like. Perhaps if I saw it every night I wouldn't react that way, but it's very pleasant and thrilling.
It was. I'm glad I managed to write it up, though somewhat stunned that people read through to the end. I didn't want to let it go unmarked just as a personal record.
