Happy Thanksgiving! While Piglet is taking a nap I thought I'd post a couple of the new side dishes I made this year. I had to dispense with my usual complicated recipes this year, since Piglet is becoming a lot more mobile and insist on helping, but they still turned out quite well.

Thanks for the sage and sweet potato one. Anything to avoid adding sweetness to sweet potato. Why do people do it? I've never gone the marshmallow route, but at home it was brown sugar and butter and baked to a candy-like consistency that made my teeth ache.

I'm not a sage fan normally, but there's scads of it out in the garden still, so shall try.

Acorn squash meaning real acorn squash, or kabocha?

I made it with acorn squash because that's what my mom bought. But you can make it with any squash you have. Kabocha should be fine too. You might even to able to eat the skin in that case. With acorn the skin becomes too tough too eat after you roast it.
