[He knows that Rin never would have left him behind, but damnit, he's the dad here! Children are supposed to listen to their fathers! And Shiro thinks that Rin's life is waaaay more important than his own, he was fine with dying to keep his son safe.]

[He knows because Rin always does stupid stuff and says stupid stuff, and while Shiro may be harsh with him when he acts up, he really does love this boy here, and he forgives him every single time.

He may not be letting go quite yet either. He thought he'd never see Rin again, and he has to use all of his will to keep his voice from wavering as he speaks.]
