Something told the Doctor not to turn his back on this strange, sinister man. He whirled around on his heel and looked at Kuja. "I'm not a human," he informed the other, scoffing slightly, "I'm a Time Lord." The way the mage was looking at him was distinctly unpleasant, and definitely of the "plotting something in the way of very bad things" variety.

"Oh, me? You're right; what can I do?" he replied jovially. "Well, for starters, I can get to the bottom of this. I can figure out their weaknesses, their strategies, and what they're planning, whoever - whatever - they are. Oh, and I can make a nice cup of tea while I'm at it."

"Oh, I see. An easily made mistake, of course," he waved off his miscalculation with a sinister look, "after all, you look just as fragile as one."

He brought a hand up to push the hair out of his face, "But I'm afraid I can't let you do that," Kuja added nonchalantly, "you see, a task like that would be far too much for a simple-minded creature such as yourself." When he lifted his arm again, in the palm of it a ball of energy seemed to be gathering, steadily growing from the small particles it began as -- into a sphere about the size of a volleyball. "So I will just have to take care of it, myself. But first -- I'll need some bait, won't I~?"

"Looks can be deceiving," the Doctor admonished, the smile staying on his lips even as his eyes grew cold. He watched the other warily as a sphere began to form from the other. Almost immediately, he began running possibilities through his head, trying to pin it to either a weapon - unlikely, given that Kuja's skimpy clothing didn't seem to allow for concealing one - or some kind of kinesis. Then he remembered what Roxas had told him when they'd gone to Destiny Islands. Magic exists.

"Oh? And why is that?" he asked pleasantly, tensing up in case he'd need to attempt a dodge - which he likely would, soon.

"It adds to the excitement of the climax, of course! Now, it's time for curtain to rise! The first act is about to get underway~!" he spoke in a delighted tone, casting the orb down towards the Doctor.

Already, he was beginning to conjure more orbs around him, circling his body -- by the time the spell would hit, he would be sure to have two more projectiles ready on hand.

The Doctor glared at the strange man. "Actually, you might want to think about what you're doing. You really might..." But it was no good, and the Time Lord was forced to cut his sentence short as he was forced to dodge the projectile. He just barely managed, wincing as he felt the burn of magic on his arm, singing his jacket. That definitely felt real, alright.

This wasn't looking good. The Doctor had no way of really protecting himself against magic, and furthermore, there was still a sort of crowd around the train station. "Tell you what," said the Doctor, "why don't we take this little party somewhere else?"
