He tried to force a smile as he walked towards Mufasa, but it didn't quite work. This wasn't the first time he had run into his father here, but that make it any less awkward. "Uh, hi, dad."

Without pausing, he stepped forward and nuzzled the other lion, closing his eyes.
"Simba." he spoke the name quietly and affectionately, "Are you alright?"

His smile faltered a bit. He wondered how much his father knew about his brother. "So...have you heard from Scar?" A touchy subject indeed. Simba wondered what his father remembered this time, and f he's be able to accept the fact that his younger brother was a murderer.

"Are you sure?" he set his piercing gaze on Simba, his expression benign, "Yes, I have." those words were said with a heavy tone, "It's difficult to accept what he did, but..." he knew that his family - Scar excluded - would not lie to him.
That doesn't ease the sadness in his heart. Scar was his brother; they grew up together. Accepting that a lion that close to him was a murderer hurts.
"It will not happen here." he sat down, sighing.

The air suddenly became a lot heavier. Simba's gaze turned from his father to the ground in front of him. He sat on his haunches and traced his paw in the dirt. "No. It won't." Like hell Scar would manage to get either of them here. Even if he had Zira, Simba had managed to make a lot of friends, and his dad was also strong. They'd be fine.
An awkward silence descended upon the father and son. Simba was never a fan of tension. "Are you hungry?"
