Character(s): Basil, open to all Content: The Great Mouse Detective has come to Paixao Setting: Joutenheim gate Time: Late evening Warnings: ...Basil is kind of a dick. >.>
Well, if that was where she was going to start Basil was losing hope for her already. His grin fell, ever so slowly turning into something of a frown. "Yes, yes, I figured out that much when I saw the grass and the trees. Tell me something useful."
Toby, on the other hand, was more than happy to stand perfectly still and let the girl pet him, though he did move every few moments to get a different spot scratched.
Kairi raised an eyebrow and regarded the mouse. He sure had an attitude for someone who had just arrived and who she was trying to help out. But she could handle that, it wasn't like she hadn't met someone with an attitude before. "Well then, good for you." What else? What else?
"The city's huge, about four and a half miles wide in some places. There are tons of places to stay and plenty of shops. Don't worry about money, the inhabitants of the city will take anything shiny as way of payment. Just pluck some of the leaves you see around and they'll take that." But as a mouse.... he miiight not have to worry about that.
"Four and a half miles? It's a good thing I've got Toby with me." Basil regarded the news about currency with some interest, rubbing his chin a moment. "Strange citizenry indeed, to accept something so easily available and common as payment for goods and services."
How did these people ever get along using money that had no real value? Was this meant to be some sort of Utopian society? No, no, the dress was almost identical to the contemporary human fashions in London, they wouldn't bother with such clothing if there weren't at least a few important similarities to be observed. Too much money was spent on jewelry and adornments, and it wasn't all exactly the same, nor in the same condition.
"There are plenty of other people around here that can help you too. I'm sure my friends would be happy to meet you." She could just picture how Sora and Riku would react to meeting this little guy. "I don't understand why the money works the way it does here, but it makes things pretty easy for people like me who arrived here without anything in her purse." She shook her little black for emphasis. No jingling of coins.
"Oh, but I never even introduced myself, did I? I'm Kairi." She almost extended her hand to shake, but then she realized that might not work so well. She could pick him up if she wanted to.
Basil quirked an eyebrow at her hand as she offered it, giving a slight sneer. He had to wonder how many humans would try to do that with him. Though of course he'd also have to figure out a way to actually perform a handshake, since it was such a customary greeting.
"Basil of Baker Street, detective. At your service, Madame!"
