That travel agency had certainly been convenient. Though not quite Riku's style, the fur-trimmed coat's warmth kept him from complaining in the brutal cold. The mittens had just enough grip he didn't have to fear losing Gloaming Saber to an attacker. Considering the environment, he was surprised that the only thing he hadn't faced on the mountain was a yeti. It had certainly felt as if they couldn't walk five feet without the icy silence being shattered by the heat of battle.
Afterall, it seemed as if many lives had been shattered by the many fiends. Riku paused, looking down at what he'd figured out were grave markers half-buried in the snow. They weren't the only sign of intelligent life up here. They'd passed ornately-carved pillars on the way, each glazed in ice. There were strange lumps in the snow all around that area. Thinking of them gave Riku a twinge of unease in the pit of his stomach, and, unsure, told himself they were simply small boulders. He looked away from the grave markers and continued walking with the others.
Riku had shielded his eyes with an arm against the biting winds. Even then, as he turned the corner, he balked. The wind in the area was less, but more stirring than the winds was the shock of seeing a wall of human bodies embedded into stone. Greenish mist drifted down from the wall, swirling near their feet. The low drone of unearthly human voices put even Riku on edge, and he narrowed his eyes as he looked it over. Ornate, brightly-colored designs also decorated the wall. And behind them the mist swirled, lifting the water from the hot spring and falls behind them into a column reaching for the heavens.
