NOTE: This thread basically encompasses anyone's experience (hilarious or otherwise) with a chocobo. This could be as small interactions between a couple characters, your whole party, or as one-shot-ers that just pertain to your character only. Past the Calm Lands already? No problem! It could be written as a flashback! This thread will be written party-style. (replying to the tags rather than threads.)
A gentle breeze rustled the short grass of the open, yet strange terrain. Bizarre ridges, spikes and strange beveled holes accented the landscape. The area was warmed by the sun of midday. As golden as the sun, large yellow birds could be spotted here and there, strutting across the terrain. The monsters in the area never seemed to bother them, though it was little wonder why. Though their beaks always seemed to smile, they were heavily built. If their bite wasn't a potential worry, then the claws of their three toes, particularly the front two, would be enough to think twice.
What a shame it was that one of those marvelous birds couldn't travel with someone. Or could one? After some trekking across the plains, one might have happened upon a woman riding one of these birds. She wore a bright yellow orange and purple dress covered by an open tanned leather coat. It seemed to complement the plumage of her mount quite nicely. She turned, looking a little concerned.
"I hope you’re not planning to cross this place on foot. Do you want to ride a chocobo? You do? Well, these plains are home to lots of wild chocobos. First we must train them to be dependable mounts. I’m training some chocobos now, but they’re not quite tame yet. I’m sorry I can’t lend you any, though someone along the way could let you rent one if you have enough gil. ...Yes, gil, it's our money. Where did you say you were from again? No, nevermind, besides, walking might be faster than waiting for one of my chocobos."
"You really want to help me train some? That’s easier said than done. It’s not that simple, you know. You sure you want to try? ...All right. Come with me."
"It’s simple. Just get from where you are to where I am. Since you’re riding a wild chocobo, it’ll just run whichever way it feels like. Pull the reigns left or right to steer it between my chocobo and me. Keep an eye on the boundaries and try not to miss the finish line. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need help, okay? Let’s begin, shall we?"
