At a loss of words, Lumiere could only stare at Cogsworth, mouth agape. It was impossible. Impossible! With extinguished candles, he rubbed his eyes, convinced they had deceived him. But the longer he stared at Cogsworth, the more convinced he was that this was not a dream. He had been told that the spell had been broken however, much like the prince, he too thought nothing more of the man’s words than folly. How could it possibly be broken when the rose still glowed of enchantment, every stray petal a blatant reminder of the prince’s ever so quickly approaching birthday? And what of him who proved the impossible, made of no more than brass and wax? Were these all not evident indication that they had yet to be set free of the spell? Yet there Cogsworth stood before him, impervious to the Enchantress’ spell, and what they all longed so greatly to be: human again. The most admissible one in the room appeared seemingly the complete opposite. How? How was it possible? He had hands, feet, flesh and blood. Why, even that horrid moustache ( ... )

And for all that Lumiere was a ruffian and a nincompoop, he did have a way of saving their necks from the master's moods. Actually, one of his first moves was to walk over towards Lumiere... A shame he couldn't hide behind him now though... he'd also have to watch out for the candelabra setting fire to his much-more-flamable-than-wood clothes. He had never noticed how small both Lumiere and the Beast were in these forms- well, yes, the Beast was still huge, but not as giant as before.

"Well, I wish I knew what to say..." He was too, trying to break this silence and make some conversation with the Master... Although, whether they were the right words to use or not he did yet not know.

With some difficulty, Beast managed not to yell in reply to Cogsworth. The corners of his lips twitched, and he even opened his mouth and growled, but he kept from yelling. However, he couldn't think of anything to say himself. Where was Mrs. Potts? She would know what to do...

His eyes lingered on the rose as he silently wished she was here, but he wrested them away. Now that Cogsworth was a human, the shining flower was just a brutal reminder of the Beast's shameful form.

"Lumiere..." he said before pausing. "...Talk to him." The words were a command, of course, but they were heavily laden with sadness. Beast wanted to talk to Cogsworth, but he couldn't find the words through all his anger and frustration. It would be better to let Lumiere speak with him for a while, until the master had more time to think of what he was going to say.

Had it been any other time, Lumiere would have considered the beast’s order punishment. But given their predicament, he could not help but feel slightly relieved. The prince wished to collect himself before he spoke, which was most certainly fine by him, especially when it limited the amount of shouting they would hear from him. With a nod, he turned his attention away from Beast and over to Cogsworth. He shared a smug grin with the man before he spoke. “You could say you are sorry for having us wait so long.” He suggested teasingly. “However, I am sure we could forgive you this once. There are, after all, far greater matters at hand, one being how you managed to find your way here in the first place ( ... )

"Well if someone had told me that there was a transport service!" He looked down to the candlestick with that familiar angered look on his face. It strangely enough didn't hit him that he was arguing with a candlestick- he had been so used to it three days before. And so he stood scowling at a piece of furniture. "But yes, there are far more impedeing matters right now. Like where for one are we?"
