NiGHTS lounged on a roof like a large and rather strange-looking bird, thinking. It had been quite awhile since he'd done something other than fly about or prank someone, and as unbelievable as the thought was to him, it was getting boring. Sure, it was basically what he did in the Night Dimension, but something had to change every now and again. That was what made life fun, and if there was one thing NiGHTS knew, it was how to have it. Besides, being one thing or another for an extended length of time tended to bore NiGHTS, and anyone who had been around him long enough knew that a bored NiGHTS meant a lot of trouble in the end.

So it was that the Maren floated down to a somewhat annoyed red-headed woman who was busily clicking away at her journal and looked at her in a friendly way. "Hi, there!"

Donna heard the voice coming from above her and looked up, taking a break from trying to find who she was looking for. Above her floating a curious looking creature, something she hadn't seen before, but could have been from any of the places and times she had been to.

"Ah, hello!" She said in response, glad to finally see a friendly face, even if it wasn't one that she knew. It didn't seem to be unfriendly, at least, but she did know to be careful.

NiGHTS grinned at Donna. It was nice to just say "hi" for once and not deal with the questions right of who and what he was (among other things)right off the bat; that got a bit annoying after awhile. He floated back a bit to give Donna room and tilted his head. "I don't think I've seen you around here before. Are you new?" Of course, just because NiGHTS hadn't seen someone didn't mean they hadn't been there to begin with, but NiGHTS didn't always pay as much attention as he likely should have to a lot of things, which was why he was sometimes caught off guard.

"In a way, you could say that." Donna replied, watching him curiously. "I've been here before. But, I was home for a bit and came back. It was strange, to say the least." she mumbled that last bit, still trying to figure out how it had happened anyway. She thought the Doctor may have had something to do with it, but she wasn't completely sure.

"I don't think I've seen you around either. I'm Donna, what's your name?"

"I've heard about that happening before," NiGHTS said thoughtfully, a finger tagging his cheek. There had to be a connection between the way in and the way out; maybe there was a clue here. NiGHTS smiled at the woman and bowed. "My name is NiGHTS!" came the cheerful reply. "It's nice to meet you."

The creature rose into the air. "Oh, I've been around for quite awhile," he chuckled. Exactly how long he'd been around, the nightmaren didn't know, but it had been long enough that he was starting to get bored - never a good sign.
