The apartment was in worse shape than Genie had imagined. He had expected some damage, but certainly not this. He hoped no one had been injured, especially when he had taken in the sight of the open roof. It was more than enough to cause the djinn to quicken his pace, a sense of urgency driving him forward. He could not bare the thought that anyone, most importantly Urd, had gotten hurt because of his absents.

“Urd!” he shouted, searching the roof franticly from the air for the goddess. “Urd, are you here?” Spotting her against a split tree trunk, he hastily flew to her side, wasting no time in checking her for any signs of harm. “Urd, are you alright?” he asked, the worry in his eyes more evident than ever. "What happened? Who did this?"

Wow, he was really worried, wasn't he? As she watched him hover around her, all high energy and frantic movements, Urd had the sudden urge to hug Genie. She just wanted to wrap her arms around the big blue lug, press her check against his chest and squeeze him. She blinked a few times at this thought before reaching up and placing a hand gently on each side of his face, commanding his attention to focus on her own mild, smiling expression. "Genie, I'm okay. I'm okay. I'm not hurt." She withdrew her hands, fingers lingering for a moment along his jaw, and crossed her arms -- a familiar gesture at this point, usually of arrogance or the need to protect herself. This time, it was obvious it was the latter. Despite her insistence about being fine, something had not settled right with her.

"I was attacked by the Organization last night," she said quietly, scowling at the nearby remains of a bush.

He had been so caught up in all his worrying, checking the goddess for any scrapes, scratches, open wounds or otherwise, that it had Urd’s forceful command to bring him back to reality. In her hold, the genie stared at her for a moment, confused by her actions. That was until her words reached him. At that point a relieved sigh escaped him. He was sure at this point he need not tell her how fearful he had been for her wellbeing. And though she had in fact smiled, he could not help but feel the need to comfort her. Something still was not right, regardless how much she could try to reassure him. He could feel it. His worried expression on his face did not stray as he reached for her hands ( ... )

She didn't resist as he took her hands on his. Gazing up at him with dark, troubled eyes, Urd smiled in return, squeezing his hands reassuringly. "Well, maybe a couple," she joked, head tilted coyly to the side. Another pause and she lowered her head a bit, staring down at their linked hands. "Not with them, though," she added soberly. "I'm not sure what happened. It seems like it wasn't really a fight." Her jaw tensed as she gritted her teeth, remembering the insult of it all. "He got whatever he wanted from me. He was in my mind and now he's going to try to use me."

Not again. How many times was she going to be a pawn in someone else's game? Would they use her own darkness against her? Against the people she cared about? Would she be able to hold back enough this time for Belldandy to bring her back? She squeezed Genie's hand again unconsciously as visions of herself hurting him and her sister at the behest of the Organization played through her mind.

Genie frowned. If they hadn’t come for a fight, had it been for a test? Surely they must have questioned the power of the goddess at some point. Anyone even potentially powerful enough to defeat this ‘Organization’ certainly posed a threat to their plans. And if they were anything like he had heard about, that was a problem they would eliminate quickly. Well, as quickly as they could ( ... )
