In all honesty, Jafar was just as surprised as the Genie that they were meeting. He'd not expected the meddlesome fool to call for a meeting - he rather thought the djinn would avoid him. They were not, to put it lightly, on the best of terms.

Nonetheless, Jafar arrived at the Glass Bonsai, demeanor staid as ever. The Genie would be difficult to miss, and it did not take long to spot him.

"Good evening." The cool greeting implied it was anything but.

“Now, now, Mister Grumpy Gills.” Genie greeted the sorcerer in return, lips puckered similar to a fish as he drew near Jafar’s face, so close that if he got any closer he’d certainly be kissing the man. “Aren’t you happy to see me again? I bet you missed me. I bet you did!”

He pinched Jafar’s cheeks lovingly, speaking in a particularly annoying tone that one would to a baby or animal.

It took only fractions of a second for Jafar to whip his staff up and around and smack it down hard across the Genie's arms. "Oh, yes," he replied with as much flat sarcasm as he could muster (which was a good bit). "The lack of violation of my personal space was sorely noticed." If the Genie touched him again, the next blow would likely be to his face.

Genie winced, sucking in air through his teeth when struck by Jafar’s staff. He immediately retreated after this, waving his arms in the air briefly as though it would sooth sting. “Sorely noted alright!” he agreed. “That’s quite the arm you got.”

He brought his arms back down and inspected them for a moment, curious whether or not they would bruise before he tsked disappointedly at the sorcerer. “Never did play well with others, did you? I promise I won’t get the robes dirty. I can tell they were just dry-cleaned.”

"Thank you," Jafar replied silkily, idly stroking the head of his staff. "I do try." Namely on the less fortunate and more annoying.

He was tempted to try it again as the Genie prattled on. "Did you have a point?" he inquired flatly in the pause between sentences.
