Leslie was more than happy staying with Yuuko and Harry. The witch was a little strange at times, but Leslie found it refreshing. It was good to know that there were people with personality, especially after she'd seen so many of the other citizens of Paixao.

Harry was more fun, though. He told Leslie stories and listened to the ones she thought up. He reminded her a lot of an older Jesse--a bit reserved, but with an imagination that exceeded most expectations. It was good to have him around, to have that release of inspiration with him and to not be held back by things like physics. He was fun to watch, too. He'd only done a few smaller magics so far, but even those were more than Leslie could have expected ( ... )

NiGHTS rarely stayed in one place. Having no need for food, rest, or shelter from the rare storm that came through, he drifted about the city, doing as he pleased. There wasn't a lot else for him to do, and that annoyed him - even when Reala had been around, that was better; at least NiGHTS could talk to his near-twin occasionally.

Physics were also something that didn't really apply to the Maren and flight was not the only thing he was capable of. He could shapeshift or create portals; that same portal could just as easily be turned into a weapon. Language barriers were a non-issue, as well. Still, these were not things NiGHTS really thought about; they came as naturally to him as breathing would be to a human.

The creature, upon hearing the clap, looked down mid-twirl to see a young girl watching him and clapping. Encouraged by the sound, NiGHTS whirled in a complicated fashion towards her, stopping to hover above the ground. The girl had a glow of bravery about her, something that interested the maren. "Hello!" he greeted,

Yep, definitely flying. She watched with excited amazement as he looped around, eventually coming to rest--still in the air--in front of her. Seemed pretty friendly, too.

"Hey!" Leslie replied, not bothering to hide her surprise. He didn't seem to have a jetpack or wings, but after meeting Yuuko, Harry, and Aerith--all users of some pretty awesome magic--it didn't surprise her nearly as much as it should have. Instead, she wondered if the place was allowing it, or if it just came naturally to the boy.

Maybe she could learn.

"You fly really well!" Best to start with the compliments.

If there was one thing NiGHTS was always doing, it was flying. He rarely touched the ground if he could help it, and even when he had been caged in the past, the Maren had only flown around in irritated circles. NiGHTS grinned at the girl's greeting and her obvious amazement - humans were always so interesting like that, fascinated by what, to the nightmaren, were the most normal things in the world.

NiGHTS chuckled, taking a bow. "Why, thank you," he responded. "I've been flying my entire life." He tilted his head at the girl, looking her over as though he was sizing her up. "What's your name?"

As he bowed, Leslie gave a few more claps of approval. He probably got this kind of praise a lot, with such a talent, but everyone should be appreciated for what they had. All too often, Leslie had been on the wrong side of a friendship where the good wasn't appreciated and eventually led to separation. There were too many ways to bully a person using what they were good at...

"Your whole life?" She wondered how old he was. It was obvious that such a thing would take years to practice. He had to have gotten plenty of it.

"I'm Leslie!" she replied, smiling brightly. "What's yours?"
