"Naa, this seems like it'll be a good place to eat!"

A voice came out as a pale, stark contrast to the quiet atmosphere of the cafe. Naturally, any of the patrons inside were drawn to it, boasting the same level of tact as a brick tossed through the window, to be greeted by a stunningly bright smile shaded beneath a soft straw hat. They glared at the source heatedly, perturbed as their golden silence had been stolen away. Feeling their strange stares, Luffy cringed sharply with embarassment and immediately quieted down as he strolled inside.

Stepping up, the odd young man began to rattle off a very, very large order, leaving the poor staff member looking and feeling a little bewildered, as some of the things this famished customer wanted were simply not available. Could he even eat so much, being so slim ( ... )

The silver haired general did not miss the entrance of the too-bright young man, but he paid it little heed as he sipped his tea. He'd seen odder things in his time, especially among the brash new recruits to SOLDIER.

The huge list of food, however, did cause him to raise a brow. He'd only heard such a list once before - and it had been delivered by an entire battle group! He automatically found himself looking about to see if the young man had brought in companions, but he did not find any; he was alone.

Very interesting.

More interesting still, he thought he recognized the guy. It was hard to go on the appearances of a photo alone, but he most definitely reminded Sephiroth of the person who had commented to his journal post...

Luffy, gathering up as much as he could in his long and lanky arms, took it upon himself to find a cozy little empty table off to the side of the cafe. He was certainly happy, grinning from ear to ear, likely feeling a strange sort of pride about being able to get so much food for so little cost ( ... )

Sephiroth's tea did not even have time to grow cold before the strange young man was finished with his huge meal. Slightly slack-jawed (and more than slightly nauseous), he shook his head in mild amazement ( ... )

"Sir, what happened? I ordered more than this."

"Miss? Oh, miss? I think something is wrong, I never got my order."

"Ummm...is this a bite? In my sandwich? Like, half of it is gone."

With the same absolute sense of speed and precision on the part of the 'Straw Hat', the waiting staff of the cafe was forced to struggle strangely to keep up, despite the modest amount of orders. There weren't that many people, nor were the orders flooding in. It just seemed as if every request from the customers took two or even three tries to get back to each one.

Sephiroth's order did arrive...only minus the two rolls. The soup must have been too hard to grab.

It was becoming harder and harder to hide his efforts, though; with as much as Luffy had eaten, his flexible body was showing the result. The more he ate, the bigger his stomach began to grow, until the point where it had bulged completely out of proportion, slightly stretching the shirt around his rounding torso.

Sephiroth narrowed his eyes at the strange young man. He'd seen the grab for the rolls, and where before he had been sickened, now Sephiroth was angry. This had just become personal.

A long, slender blade reached out to tap the person on the shoulder; Masamune's edge faced away from his neck, but could easily be turned. "I think perhaps you should slow down. Before you explode from all that food," he said pointedly, Mako-blue and glowing eyes boring into the back of the young man's head.

The fact that Sephiroth was at least two tables away from Luffy should have been a good indication of how long the blade was and how loudly he had to speak to reach him - and how strong the single arm holding that improbably long sword had to be.

Silently, Luffy sat there for a moment, even while the grim weight of Sephiroth's sword loomed just beside him. He didn't move, didn't flinch, didn't even try to distance himself from the unmistakable sense of power just inches from his neck. Luffy was simple in nature, but it was his level of intelligence that allowed him to feel such intensity, resonating across his body like a chilling echo in the dark. So how could he possibly remain so calm ( ... )

If he was phased by the young man's lack of reaction and the subsequent revealing of the reasons behind it, Sephiroth did not show it. "You may yet," he said with a warning tone, his own eyes locked on Luffy's. "You will cease your theft, young man, or I will show you what was done to thieves where I come from."

He had every intent on carrying through this threat, because despite everything else, thieves were one of his major pet peeves. No troop in his regiment would ever steal, and he would be damned if he was going to sit by and allow someone else to do so - particularly from himself.

Had it been only a bit of food, he might have been more understanding. But having witnessed the veritable feast Luffy had ordered initially, Sephiroth was not inclined to be lenient...
